La Société sénégalaise d’endoscopie a organisé ses premières journées scientifiques. L’objectif recherché, c’est de voir comment développer la pratique de l’endoscopie en Afrique subsaharienne. Une chirurgie qui s’effectue sans faire de grandes ouvertures et qui ne présente pas de douleurs et de complications post-opératoires.
«On opère les patients sans faire de grandes ouvertures comme jadis avec la laparotomie qui ouvre tout le ventre et l’expose à l’air libre», explique professeur Maguette Mbaye, gynécologue-obstétricien, dans les colonnes de L’AS.
Enseignant-chercheur à l’université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar et à l’université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis, Maguette Mbaye explique le procédé : «Il s’agit d’opérer avec une caméra à travers de petits orifices à travers lesquels on introduit des pinces et des trocarts et qui nous permettent sur un moniteur (un écran géant), de voir toute la cavité abdominale et de faire toutes les possibilités opératoires qui s’offrent à nous à travers cette voie.»
Pour lui, «c’est une voie qui a plusieurs avantages du fait de l’esthétisme, du fait de la réduction de la douleur post- opératoire, des complications post-opératoires infectieuses, mais également le séjour hospitalier qui est réduit et soulage nos structures hospitalières». «Il s’agit d’une chirurgie plus élégante, plus élaborée et plus avantageuse», ajoute-t-il.
Pour faire profiter cette nouvelle chirurgie au pays et à l’Afrique subsaharienne, la Société sénégalaise d’endoscopie en gynécologie a organisé mardi et mercredi, ses premières journées scientifiques sous le thème : «Endoscopie gynécologue en Afrique subsaharienne, quelles stratégies pour son développement ?»
Ce fut une occasion pour les différents membres de la Société sénégalaise d’endoscopie en gynécologie, d’aborder les différents moyens de développement de cette science et la stratégie qui leur permettrait de développer l’endoscopie, en particulier gynécologue, en Afrique subsaharienne.
C’est un pari loin d’être gagné et il faudra plusieurs années pour démocratiser l’accès à cette chirurgie. Pourquoi ? «L‘Afrique souffre encore d’un manque de moyens matériels, financiers et d’un manque de praticiens capables de faire cette technique opératoire aux multiples avantages», tempère Pr Maguette Mbaye.
Que faire pour changer la situation ? Évidemment, cela passe par la formation. Chaque année, un endoscopiste, un technicien de bloc opératoire, un anesthésiste-réanimateur sont formés grâce au soutien financier de la Principauté de Monaco qui accompagne la Société sénégalaise d’endoscopie dans sa démarche. Dans le même sens, un diplôme interuniversitaire est aussi ouvert dans ce domaine.
«Lequel, poursuit le gynécologue-obstétricien, va permettre aux membres de la société de retour de formation à Monaco, de pouvoir entendre et former d’autres, si bien que chaque année nous formons 8 à 9 endoscopistes pour cette technique nouvelle.» Il faut combler très rapidement ce manque de praticiens, qui s’explique par le manque de moyens financiers.
Pendant ces journées, des activités de formation, de l’enseignement, du développement des activités de recherche, du développement des stratégies visant à améliorer l’obtention matérielle, à faire la propagande de la mobilisation de la ressource pour avoir du matériel, ont été organisées pendant les deux premiers jours de ce symposium.
Pour cette première édition, rappelle le journal dans sa livraison de ce vendredi, les membres de la Société sénégalaise d’endoscopie ont choisi comme parrains, Jean-Charles Moreau et Bruno Veninrenshel.
D’après l’enseignant-chercheur, Jean-Charles Moreau, défini comme le maître de cette science, a voulu que la technique d’endoscopie se développe. C’est ainsi qu’il a fait des choix de mettre en place une équipe pour les différentes branches de la chirurgie gynécologique.
En attendant de généraliser l’accès à la formation, les gynécologues comptent sur le soutien de leurs partenaires étrangers comme la Principauté de Monaco, l‘hôpital Princesse Grâce de Monaco, qui les appuient pour constituer des équipes au Sénégal.
