L’Organisation des Nations unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (Fao), en partenariat avec l’Association des femmes vétérinaires, tient depuis hier un atelier de formation pour renforcer les capacités des femmes vétérinaires dans le domaine de la biosécurité et biosûreté et de la Résistance aux antimicrobiens (Ram), afin qu’elles puissent appuyer les femmes productrices dans la mise en œuvre des mesures de biosécurité dans les élevages et la lutte contre la Ram.
Pour protéger les acteurs du secteur de l’élevage, l’Organisation des Nations unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (Fao), en collaboration avec les femmes vétérinaires, a ouvert hier à Saly, un atelier de formation pour renforcer les capacités des femmes vétérinaires dans le domaine de la biosécurité et biosûreté et de la Résistance aux antimicrobiens (Ram), afin qu’elles puissent appuyer les productrices dans la mise en œuvre des mesures de biosécurité dans les élevages et la lutte contre la Ram. En effet, les professionnels en charge de l’inspection des denrées alimentaires d’origine animale pour la sécurité sanitaire des aliments, laborantins ou conservateurs, les vétérinaires, en tant que personnels de première ligne dans la conservation, la lutte contre les maladies infectieuses et la Résistance aux antimicrobiens (Ram), sont, avec les producteurs en élevage, des personnes à risque et les principales cibles pour tacler la Ram.
Au Sénégal, l’analyse de risque menée en 2017, par la Direction des services vétérinaires, a montré que 9% des communes du Sénégal sont à risque très élevé, 28% à risque élevé, 27% à risque faible et 36% à risque négligeable, pour l’Influenza aviaire hautement pathogène (Iahp).
C’est pourquoi Binetia Stéphene Tchicaya, chargée des politiques au Bureau sous-régional de la Fao pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest, a magnifié la tenue de cet atelier de formation. «Cet atelier revêt une importance capitale, car les femmes vétérinaires qui seront formées seront les relais auprès des petits producteurs, des petits éleveurs pour pouvoir leur transmettre les connaissances qu’il faut pour la gestion de leur cheptel», s’est-elle félicitée.
La biosécurité et la biosûreté sont des domaines techniques du Règlement sanitaire international qui regroupe toutes les mesures préventives et bonnes pratiques mises en place, afin de préserver les élevages de l’incursion de pathogènes.
Ainsi, pour combler ces gaps en biosécurité et biosûreté dans le secteur de l’Elevage, dans les cabinets, cliniques vétérinaires et dans la gestion des animaux domestiques, y compris avec les nouveaux animaux de compagnie et les animaux sauvages, une sensibilisation et une formation des femmes vétérinaires s’impose.
Ces femmes vétérinaires sont également formées sur d’autres domaines tels que la Ram, qui représente aujourd’hui l’une des menaces les plus graves pour la santé publique mondiale. «C’est un phénomène naturel accéléré par l’usage abusif et excessif des antimicrobiens et particulièrement des antibiotiques chez l’homme et l’animal. En 2009, une étude conduite dans l’Union européenne (Ue) estimait que ce phénomène était responsable de 25 000 décès et des coûts d’environ 1,5 milliard de dollars Us. Les praticiens vétérinaires sont en première ligne pour la lutte contre la Ram, compte tenu de leur rôle dans la prévention et la lutte, mais aussi dans la sensibilisation des producteurs, notamment dans les filières à cycle court.»

D’ailleurs, Dr Amadou Tidiane Niang, chef d’équipe projet Ecta Sénégal, a rappelé que 60% des maladies sont d’origine animale. «Donc, c’est un aspect très important de former aussi bien les professionnels que les femmes productrices sur ces problématiques de maladies zoonotiques pour empêcher leur propagation dans la santé publique», a déclaré Dr Niang.
L’Association des femmes vétérinaires a ainsi un rôle important à jouer dans la sensibilisation des femmes du milieu rural, mais aussi des enfants pour pouvoir mieux les protéger.
Dr Edilia Da Veiga, chargée de la communication de l’Association des femmes vétérinaires, invite ses consœurs à respecter les règles de la biosécurité et la biosûreté, «sur tout ce qui concerne l’évacuation des déchets, c’est-à-dire une bonne maîtrise de comment évacuer ces déchets. Parce qu’on les retrouve souvent au niveau des poubelles et les enfants y ont accès». En tant que femmes, plaide Mme Veiga, «nous avons un rôle à jouer par rapport à la sensibilisation des femmes du milieu rural, mais aussi des enfants pour pouvoir mieux les protéger. A ce niveau, la Fao nous permet de pouvoir former sur ce sujet mais aussi sur l’hygiène des mains. Parce que nous savons qu’au niveau des structures sanitaires, beaucoup de maladies sont transmises par le mode de contamination nosocomiale (par les mains) au niveau d’une structure sanitaire qui n’est pas bien désinfectée».
