Le président de la République, Macky Sall a pris la parole de ce 20 septembre 2022 au siège de l’Onu. Il a profité de cette tribune pour appeler tous les acteurs à agir ensemble pour lutter contre les défis de l’heure.
«Depuis notre dernière session, le monde est devenu plus dangereux et plus incertain, sous l’emprise combinée du réchauffement climatique, des périls sécuritaires et sanitaires, ainsi que de la guerre en Ukraine. Le thème de cette session montre à quel point il urge d’agir ensemble pour apaiser les tensions, soigner notre planète, réduire les inégalités persistantes Nord-Sud, et redonner sens au multilatéralisme », a déclaré le président Sall. Il a souligné que le Conseil de sécurité est interpelé au premier chef, afin qu’il traite de la même manière toutes les menaces à la paix et à la sécurité internationales, y compris en Afrique.
«Le terrorisme qui gagne du terrain sur le continent n’est pas qu’une affaire africaine. C’est une menace globale qui relève de la responsabilité première du Conseil, garant du mécanisme de sécurité collective, en vertu de la Charte de l’Organisation. Aussi, invitons-nous le Conseil à mieux s’engager avec nous dans la lutte contre le terrorisme en Afrique, avec des mandats plus adaptés et des moyens plus conséquents », a martelé le président en exercice de l’Union africaine.
En outre, poursuit-il, l’Union Africaine appelle, une fois de plus, à la levée des sanctions étrangères contre le Zimbabwe. Ces mesures sévères continuent à son avis, de nourrir un sentiment d’injustice contre tout un peuple, et d’aggraver ses souffrances en ces temps de crise profonde. «Au Proche Orient, nous réitérons le droit du peuple palestinien à un Etat viable, coexistant pacifiquement avec l’Etat d’Israël, chacun à l’intérieur de frontières sûres et internationalement reconnues. Nous appelons à la désescalade et à la cessation des hostilités en Ukraine, pour une solution négociée, afin d’éviter le risque catastrophique d’un conflit potentiellement mondial », a plaidé Macky Sall.
