Arts et lettres : Amadou Lamine Sall propose un « Grand Prix de la République’’ pour remplacer la dénomination actuelle

L’écrivain et poète sénégalais Amadou Lamine Sall a invité à une réforme du Grand Prix du Président de la république pour les arts et les lettres devant notamment permettre de le rebaptiser ‘’Grand Prix de la République’’

Ce Grand Prix est une récompense attribuée par le chef de l’Etat à une personnalité distinguée dans ces deux domaines.

‘’J’ai demandé de retourner à la formule +Grand Prix de la République+ ! La République nous gouverne tous et c’est elle seule qui restera après nous ! Je suis un fou de la République ! Elle est sacrée et rien ne doit être au-dessus d’elle !’’, a -t-il expliqué à l’APS pour justifier sa proposition.

Cette distinction, instituée en 1990 à son instigation sous le règne du président Abdou Diouf, est dénommée ‘’Grand Prix du chef de l’Etat pour les arts et les lettres’’.

La dernière fois que ce prix a été remis remonte à 2017, année où l’écrivaine Rahmatou Seck Samb avait été honorée pour son roman ‘’Le fagot de la mémoire’’, ainsi que le cinéaste Ousmane William Mbaye et le musicien-chanteur Baaba Maal.

M. Sall est revenu sur la genèse de ce prix, mis en place alors que Moustapha Ka occupait le poste de ministre de la Culture.

‘’J’avais proposé l’appellation +Grand Prix de la République pour les arts et les lettres+ ! Nous attendions la réponse du président Diouf qui vint de monsieur le secrétaire général de la présidence de la République de l’époque, Jean Collin. Il indiquait +Grand prix du président de la République+ ! Cette option fut notée et acceptée !’’, s’est-il souvenu.

Trente ans après, Amadou Lamine Sall appelle à le réformer avec un jury ‘’soigneusement choisi’’ et une hausse de la dotation à cinquante millions de francs CFA au moins.

‘’J’ajoutais que le jury de ce +Grand prix+ devait également être intraitable, pour ne pas en dire plus ! Un ami a proposé la création du +Grand Prix du plus mauvais livre de l’année+ ! Génial ! Il risque d’être mieux acheté et mieux lu que l’autre’’, ironise-t-il.

Le commissaire général du Mémorial de Gorée a aussi invité les capitaines d’industrie sénégalais très fortunés à rester dans l’histoire en créant de grands prix internationaux fortement dotés, comme le Nobel et récompensant nombre de disciplines.

‘’C’est le cas du prix Goncourt. L’Etat doit être relayé’’, suggère-t-il.
