An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you simply
didn’t refuse. Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes,
sure didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu, but no one
paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was
taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss), and transformed
into the brilliant Bellamy’s. It prospers to this day.

Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet. Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning
the doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty
– dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of
a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table
lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack
of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture.
They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and
smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better than it
ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst
into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would
have barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a
study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if I could.
But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar.
One taste is never enough.

The 50-year-old actor – whose latest flick Joker: Folie À Deux could be streamed now – got candid about potentially playing the supervillain before he actually portrayed
him.

Joaquin recently appeared on Rick Rubin’s Tetragrammaton podcast as he revealed that he spoke
to the 54-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker Nolan about portraying Joker over a decade before.

He said: That didn’t… wasn’t going to happen for a
number of reasons. I wasn’t ready then.

‘That’s one of those things sometimes where you go:

Joaquin continued: ‘I don’t know whether Christopher Nolan was coming
to me saying, « You are definitely the person. » 

‘I can’t remember the context of how we met. But I know that we met, and my feeling was, « I shouldn’t do this. » But maybe he also was like,
« You’re not the guy. » I couldn’t say.’

Heath died in a New York City apartment on January 22, 2008, after accidentally overdosing
following months of physical and mental exhaustion.

The Dark Knight actor died aged 28 after taking a fatal cocktail of
drugs, leaving behind his daughter, who was two years old at the time.

Meanwhile Joker: Folie À Deux can now be streamed, just weeks after its theatrical release.

Terrifier 3 dethrones Joker: Folie À Deux as box office champ

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100
million on marketing and distribution, according to the
report.

It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to break even — when factoring
in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner Bros.

sources claim the number is $375 million.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report, saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous
« insiders » or « rival executives » are grossly wrong
and continues a trend where rumor is reported as fact.’

‘The film continues to play in theatrical release,
included with this week’s opening in China,
and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary run.’

So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5
million domestically and $165 million globally after two weeks
of release.

In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and $248.4 million globally after three days of release.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film was considered a
surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures, yet ended up being slammed
by critics and failed to ignite at the box office. 

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore
in comic book movie history as the film bombed at the box office
on opening night.

The film is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according to the

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score
of 31% and a critic score of 32%.

The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical and
‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with director
Todd Phillips’ process telling Variety he ‘wanted nothing to
do with DC’ during the making of the film, with DC bosses
James Gunn and Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month. 

A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill
guy in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe $150 [million]
worldwide. Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was
Joker.’

In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening
sequence of the film does not include a DC Studios logo.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the
end of the Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips,
DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.

Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.

It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and
Safran – who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker
2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s
cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift
speculation when he told a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.
movie.’

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make
the sequel at a lower price point.’

The studio wanted to film in London which would
have cost around 20 per cent less.

If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are,
you’re going to fail’; director Todd Phillips seen with

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining
static.

A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los Angeles’.

A source directly involved with the film said:
‘No one could get through to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are,
you’re going to fail.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the
film at the Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back – with a Warner
spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the decision to bring the film
to Venice. 

Along with Gaga and Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the
sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.

And it seems little has changed between Teresa Giudice
and her brother, Joe Gorga, who are said to be back
at it again at the start of filming for season five.

Fox News Correspondent Tom Murro told RadarOnline.com the siblings were involved in a
screaming match during a recent shoot, after she failed to visit him
in hospital.

But Joe wasn’t in the mood for reconciliation talks, apparently telling Maria: ‘Shut up and get the f**k out of here,’ and fueling the fire.

of orchestrating a ‘vindictive and disgusting’ set-up to expose her alleged past as a stripper.

stations reopened two days after a chaotic election,

Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday’s election was marked by long delays and labelled a « sham » by
the opposition.

Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential
and legislative polls, billed as the toughest yet for the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) party, in power since Namibia’s 1990 independence from South africa.

Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems, including issues with
tablets used to register voters and shortages of ballot papers.

In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink had run out of batteries and mobile voting teams had left areas with voters still in the queues,
it said.

Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians until Saturday evening to vote.

In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen,
about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived at 4:30 am.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the next
day.

« Everyone will have the chance to vote, » he said. But because Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he was worried « everyone will flock to one place again. »

the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.

Australian politicians are almost always opting to fly with Qantas on taxpayer-funded trips, despite

Federal MPs flew with the national carrier for 80 per cent of work trips last year despite it not always
being the cheapest route, according to travel data provided to the government.

While politicians and their staffers are required to book the cheapest flight, it also has to be the most
efficient, with Qantas offering the most routes between major cities.

MPs are banned from accruing frequent flyer points on taxpayer-funded trips
like ordinary Aussies can, but they can can receive lifetime status credits,

‘How else can one explain the extraordinary dominance of Qantas in securing bookings by parliamentarians and
their staff?’ Myriam Robin wrote in an opinion piece for the Australian Financial
Review.

‘There’s nothing like accruing status credits on someone else’s dime.’

Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed to a review
of flight bookings by government officials which will be conducted by the Department of Finance
this year, despite there being just two months left of 2024.

Politicians’ preference for Qantas may also be put down to the airline’s
exclusive invite-only ‘Chairman’s Lounge’.

I’m completely smitten with the cuteness of pet pigs.

I lose hours scrolling through Instagram, looking at pictures of furry little piglets with pretty pink snouts.

There are 255,000 Insta posts with the hashtag #petpig and I’ve probably looked at all of them.
Then there’s the 286,000 posts hashtagged #micropig and
I’d hazard a guess that I’ve seen all of those too.

So I’m rather excited to discover that there’s
a pig farm less than an hour from central London, where I can find out what it’s really like to have a porcine pet.

While celebrities might get away with turning up to photoshoots, TV
appearances and fancy restaurants with all manner of furry creatures, will I get the same reception if I take a pig for a stroll down the high street?

The pair stopped off at The Griffin, a private members club, bistro and bakery, for some refreshments
after a trot down the high street 

Samantha Rea spent time at the Kew Little Pig Farm in Amersham, Buckinghamshire
to learn how to muck out and care for pigs 

Learning how to feed hay to the pigs did make Samantha question whether it’s easier to
stick with a dog or cat as a pet 

I’m hoping the Kew Little Pigs Farm will help me find out. It specialises in miniature pigs, which pig lovers can buy or ‘adopt’ to visit on the
farm.

Then there are the day trips. The Piggy Pet & Play package lets visitors ‘pet, brush,
groom, watch and play with the pigs.’ The Pig Enthusiast package
can include putting sun cream on the pigs, and the Comprehensive Guide
to Pig Keeping teaches you everything you need to know before buying your own micro pig.

Clearly I must go there!

And so I head to Amersham, in Buckinghamshire, where Kew Little Pigs Farm
is based.

When I arrive, owner Olivia Mikhail looks slightly concerned at the
sight of my Converse trainers and cropped jeans, a combination that will surely result in splattered shins.

However, Olivia has no idea just how prepared I actually am, because I have packed not only knee high
wellies for my time on the farm, but also my designer heels, for my glimpse
into what life’s like as a pig-owning celebrity.

George Clooney, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Jonathan Ross, Charlotte Church and even the Beckhams have all kept pigs as pets
over the past decade or so, while more recently Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during
their short-lived romance.

decade and was devastated when the pet passed away, saying he was the ‘heartbeat’ of the family.

They’re as much a celeb accessory as oversized sunglasses
– which is why I’ve brought those with me too.

But first things first. Before I spend an afternoon taking a petite pig
for a stroll, I sit down with Olivia in the Kew Little Pigs cafe, to complete the theory
side of the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping.

It turns out there is quite a lot of admin involved in owning a pig,
alongside a rule book thicker than Harry Potter. 

Who knew that you needed a license to walk a pig?
Who would imagine that you can’t feed pigs your kitchen leftovers?
It used to be common practice, but has been banned because of the risk of diseases such as African swine flu
and foot and mouth disease that can be spread by consuming contaminated pork
products. 

Who can fathom having to fill out a form to drive your pig from one place to another – again for disease control
reasons? 

After all the admin and mucking out, Samantha was delighted to move on to the fun part
– cuddles with Astrid 

Samantha found that mucking out the pig pen was actually a lot more
civilised than picking up poo on a dog walk 

Samantha came armed with wellies for her day at the farm, but made
sure to keep it glamorous 

After swapping her flimsy trainers for wellies, Samantha felt equipped to tackle her day on the farm 

And who would guess that pigs have to have their own house?
I mean, it’s only got to be about the size
of shed, but it’s actually a law to uphold welfare standards.

I suppose none of this is an issue for celebrities who have people to do paperwork
for them – not to mention acres of space – but to me it seems insurmountable.

Olivia senses that my dreams are crushed and attempts to reassure
me: ‘It’s really not that much paperwork. Look, filling in this form would take
two minutes.’ 

Moving on from the theory, we head outside for the practical part of the course.
Here, in large pens, are lots of little pigs which are super cute, so this makes me happy.

I am given a rake to claw the pig poo into a dustpan. Both the rake and the dustpan have long
handles and I like the distance this creates. It is certainly
more civilised than picking up poo in a flimsy plastic bag
on a dog walk. 

Clearing away pig excrement with proper equipment which allows you
to maintain a civilised, and sanitary, distance makes me wonder if
– despite the paperwork – pigs might just trump dogs.

Samantha was worried she might attract stares walking Astrid through
town, but nobody batted an eyelid 

Samantha treated herself to a hot chocolate while Astrid enjoyed some
pig treats 

Samantha swapped her wellington boots for high heels to glam up
to take her pet pig down to the town centre for lunch

Taking a pig out for a walk is trickier than it
looks, and a lot of treats are required to keep things on track 

Next, Olivia asks if I would like to feed the pigs.
Yes of course! She hands me some hay that’s stuffed inside what’s
basically a large fishnet stocking, the size of Santa’s sack.

TIE IT ROUND THE POST! NO! NOT LIKE THAT! NO!’

I feel like a failing contestant on The Crystal Maze, only this is
worse because I’m now surrounded by hungry pigs and I cannot see
a panic button.

I swear there was something on Netflix where murdered bodies were dumped in a pig pen, to be eaten by the pigs.
Or maybe the bodies were eaten alive. This definitely happens all
the time, according to TV, and now I don’t even know which is worse,
the prospect of being felled by pigs eating through my ankles, or the
pressure to hang the hay correctly.

It is like my challenge on The Crystal Maze
has been especially devised to amuse the inhabitants of hell.

I find myself grateful to make it out of the pig pen alive.
Surely I get to do celebrity stuff now?

Celebrities’ pigs are as stylish as their owners, so I’ve sourced designer outfits for my trottered chums.

I’d initially looked at diamond chokers by Dior, because what pig wouldn’t want a
diamond collar? But apparently pigs are happier in harnesses,
which fit around the body, not just the neck.

I hunt for a harness that an A-lister might pick for their pig, and I am delighted to discover a pink
leopard print harness with a matching lead. 

It is by Urban Pup, a pet fashion brand whose website I’ve
now spent more time on than all the other websites in my search history.

There’s the zebra print, the cheetah print, the pink argyle; the florals,
the tartans, and the hearts. There’s the range inspired by Legally Blonde and the pet carrier that resembles a pink Chanel handbag.

Then there are the socks…

I turn up at the farm with more outfits for the pigs than I have
for myself. I guess this is what it’s like being a
pig parent: #SELFLESS

I am introduced to Astrid, a 16 month old micro piglet
who’ll fulfill my dreams of walking a pig. I show Olivia all the outfits I’ve brought from Urban Pup and she picks out a pink tartan harness with a matching lead.

I want to dress up all the pigs but Olivia says no.
That’s OK. There is probably some law about only one pig at a time
looking this stunning.

When Astrid and I are dressed, we head into Old Amersham.

It’s a pretty market town in the Chilterns with cobbled streets and quaint white buildings with beams.

So how will locals feel about a pig on a lead?

I imagine I may be sternly spoken to by a member of the Women’s Institute.
However, it turns out that Old Amersham is perfectly
au fait with celebrity antics, given that Poirot, Midsomer Murders and Four Weddings
and a Funeral have all been filmed there.

On my pig keeping course I have learnt that pigs never poo where
they eat, sleep or socialise, because they’re very clean, so from day one, without any
training, a pig will go outside to poo.

I am surprised then, as I arrive in Old Amersham, to
find that Astrid has done her business in her carry box.
I try not to think about this, as I hold her lead.

Our first stop is the Amersham Museum. I’m not a massive fan of walking
around looking at things, but I hear the museum homes a Tudor dining table that visitors are welcome to sit
at. It is about lunchtime, so I’m hopeful I’ll be served a Tudor banquet.

I quite fancy a tankard of wine and a bit of wild boar.

Unfortunately, Astrid does not, and so, despite being welcomed by museum director
Briony, we leave pretty much as soon as we arrive.

We go for a stroll instead, but I have to scatter pig food pellets to coax Astrid along the pavement.
I guess celebrities get their assistants to walk ahead, trailing treats to entice the pet pigs in the right direction.

However, doing it without an assistant, I find myself thinking that it’s definitely
easier to walk a dog.

private members club, bistro and bakery, that’s pretty
much the Soho House of Amersham.

In the beamed building that dates back to the 17th century, there are gorgeous leather sofas and cosy cushions.
However, I have learnt on my pig keeping course that pigs are happiest alfresco, so Astrid
and I take a seat on the astro-turf terrace, beneath a pretty parasol that
wouldn’t be out of place in a Cotswolds shoot for Tatler.

It is here, as we relax like A-listers, that Astrid and I are
at our happiest. As I sip a coffee and eye-up
a chocolate brownie (I’m being a celebrity, remember, I don’t actually eat these things), Astrid puts her trotters up on the seat beside me and enjoys a few pig food pellets.

Clearly this is our natural environment, so it’s probably just a matter
of time before Astrid is snapped up by a celebrity to live
life first class. 

But for now, Astrid must mooch back to the mud, and I must head home to
wash pig poo off my wellies.

I am chuffed to bits to have spent an afternoon with
Astrid, but as I think it all over, on the train back to Marylebone, I
know that I’ll never keep a pig as a pet. 

Aside from all the legal red tape, my lack of space in London, and the trickiness of trying to take a pig for a
walk, there’s always the fear that the micro pig might turn out to be not so tiny after all. 

I’ve seen headlines about 4 ounce « teacup » pigs growing bigger than a bear,
and frankly I find it terrifying. So I’ll leave the pet pigs to the celebrities.

MPs today voted in favour of an assisted dying law despite dark
warnings it would lead to a ‘state suicide service’ – but ‘thrilled’
supporters were celebrating an historic result.

After five hours of emotionally-charged debate, the House of Commons approved the second reading of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of
Life) Bill by 330 votes to 275, majority 55.

PM Sir Keir Starmer voted for the Bill to continue its progress through Parliament.
But, in a sign of Cabinet divisions over the issue, a
string of Labour ministers opposed the legislation.

These included Deputy PM Angela Rayner, Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Health Secretary
Wes Streeting and Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood.

Following MPs’ backing for the Bill – in their first vote on assisted dying since 2015, when the Commons previously
opposed a law change – experts questioned how the NHS would cope.

A five-hour debate in the Commons before this afternoon’s vote on the Bill – which was introduced to Parliament
by Labour backbencher Kim Leadbeater – saw
MPs make impassioned arguments on both sides.

Supporters said they wanted to offer ‘choice’ to those in ‘excruciating agony’, but opponents warned against
implementing a ‘state suicide service’ for terminally ill people.

In total, 235 Labour MPs supported the Bill alongside 23 Tories, 61 Liberal

This compared to 147 Labour MPs who opposed the Bill alongside 93 Tories, 11 Lib Dems, and
two Reform UK MPs – including party leader Nigel Farage.

Emma Hardy, the Labour floods minister, voted both for
and against the Bill as a means of abstaining.

She said: ‘Voting against it at this stage could close down the
debate for another decade. To record my active abstention I had
to vote both for and against this Bill.’

Louise Haigh, who resigned as transport secretary early
this morning to become the first Cabinet casualty of the new Labour Government, voted in favour of the Bill. 

Along with the divisions within Labour, the Tories were also split with party leader Kemi Badenoch voting against
the Bill but her predecessor, former PM Rishi Sunak, voting in favour of it.

More than 160 MPs made bids to speak during today’s Commons
debate, with some complaining afterwards they were not afforded the chance to contribute.

The Bill will now go to committee stage where MPs can table amendments, before
facing further scrutiny and votes in both the
Commons and the House of Lords, meaning any change in the law
would not be agreed until next year at the earliest.

Ms Leadbeater, who introduced the legislation as
a private members’ bill, has said it will likely be a further two years from then for
an assisted dying service to be in place.

Despite the Bill passing with the PM’s support, a spokesperson for Sir Keir said the Government’s position on assisted dying ‘remains neutral’.

The spokesperson said: ‘As is a matter of public record,
the Prime Minister voted for the assisted dying Private Members’ Bill.

The Government’s position remains neutral, and we will
respect the will of Parliament.’

In an open letter to his constituents, Mr Lammy explained why he had voted against the Bill.

He recalled the experience of his mother, writing: ‘Like millions of working-class people, her final diagnosis filled her not with a fear of death but a fear of being a burden to her family.

‘That is a financial burden on her then struggling family.
Mum, in her final months, treasured every moment she spent with
us. But I worry, sadly, that if she had the option of assisted dying, she would have
felt pressure to take it.’

Prior to this afternoon’s vote, Ms Badenoch
said she would not be supporting the Bill because it was ‘being rushed’.

‘Despite supporting the principle of assisted dying long before I became an MP, I can’t support
today’s Bill,’ she said.

‘It’s rightly a free vote and a matter of conscience for MPs, but the system
cannot yet manage the complexity proposed and the Bill is being rushed’

Mr Sunak used an online article for his local constituency newspaper to reveal
why he backed the Bill.

‘I believe that, where possible, we should prevent suffering,’ the ex-premier wrote.
‘I know from speaking and listening to many of you, that too many people have to go through painful, traumatic, drawn-out deaths.

‘These moving, deeply personal stories have left a profound impression on me.
This Bill will make these ordeals, which are so traumatic for patients and their families, less frequent: it will reduce
suffering.’

His predecessor Liz Truss, who was opposed to the Bill, described the vote as ‘shameful,
: adding: ‘A dark day’.

Mr Farage said he opposed the Bill ‘not out of a lack of compassion but because
I fear that the law will widen in scope’, adding: ‘If that happens, the right to
die may become the obligation to die.’

Bishop John Sherrington of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England
and Wales asked Catholics to ‘pray’ MPs will have the ‘wisdom’ to reject
the Bill at a later stage.

Forget tiny chihuahuas peeping out of handbags à la Paris Hilton, or Taylor
Swift with her adorably grumpy looking Scottish Fold cats who have become celebrities
in their own right. 

When it comes to capturing my heart with a cuddly creature, it’s the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, 75, who’s reinvented himself as the internet’s favourite granddad with
his wholesome life with a menagerie of animals,
who has won me over.

The jewel in the crown of his ever-growing brood
of beasts is Schnelly the pig, who joined the family in April last year, making the
star the latest in a long list of celebrities to realise the joys of a porky pal
– along with Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and the Beckhams. 

I’m completely smitten with the cuteness of pet pigs. I lose hours scrolling
through Instagram, looking at pictures of furry little piglets with pretty pink snouts.

There are 255,000 Insta posts with the hashtag #petpig and
I’ve probably looked at all of them. Then there’s the 286,000 posts hashtagged #micropig
and I’d hazard a guess that I’ve seen all of
those too.

So I’m rather excited to discover that there’s a
pig farm less than an hour from central London, where
I can find out what it’s really like to have a porcine pet.

While celebrities might get away with turning up
to photoshoots, TV appearances and fancy restaurants with all manner
of furry creatures, will I get the same reception if I take
a pig for a stroll down the high street?

to stick with a dog or cat as a pet 

I’m hoping the Kew Little Pigs Farm will help me find out.
It specialises in miniature pigs, which pig lovers can buy or
‘adopt’ to visit on the farm.

Then there are the day trips. The Piggy Pet & Play
package lets visitors ‘pet, brush, groom, watch and
play with the pigs.’ The Pig Enthusiast package
can include putting sun cream on the pigs, and the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping teaches you everything you
need to know before buying your own micro pig.

Clearly I must go there!

And so I head to Amersham, in Buckinghamshire, where Kew Little Pigs Farm is based.

When I arrive, owner Olivia Mikhail looks slightly concerned at the sight of my Converse trainers
and cropped jeans, a combination that will surely result in splattered shins.

However, Olivia has no idea just how prepared I actually am, because I have packed not only
knee high wellies for my time on the farm, but also my
designer heels, for my glimpse into what life’s like as a pig-owning celebrity.

even the Beckhams have all kept pigs as pets over the past

during their short-lived romance.

Pigs cafe, to complete the theory side of the Comprehensive Guide

It turns out there is quite a lot of admin involved in owning a pig, alongside a rule book thicker than Harry Potter. 

Who knew that you needed a license to walk a pig?

Who would imagine that you can’t feed pigs your kitchen leftovers?
It used to be common practice, but has been banned because of the risk of diseases such as African swine flu and
foot and mouth disease that can be spread by consuming contaminated pork
products. 

Who can fathom having to fill out a form to drive your pig from one place to
another – again for disease control reasons? 

After all the admin and mucking out, Samantha was delighted to move on to the fun part – cuddles with Astrid

lot more civilised than picking up poo on a dog walk 

Samantha came armed with wellies for her day at the farm, but made sure to keep
it glamorous 

After swapping her flimsy trainers for wellies, Samantha felt equipped to tackle her day on the farm 

And who would guess that pigs have to have their own house?
I mean, it’s only got to be about the size of shed, but it’s actually a law to uphold welfare standards.

I suppose none of this is an issue for celebrities who have people to do paperwork for
them – not to mention acres of space – but to
me it seems insurmountable.

Olivia senses that my dreams are crushed and attempts to reassure me: ‘It’s really not that much paperwork.

Look, filling in this form would take two minutes.’ 

Moving on from the theory, we head outside for the practical part of the course.
Here, in large pens, are lots of little pigs which are super cute, so this makes me happy.

I am given a rake to claw the pig poo into a dustpan. Both the rake and the dustpan have long handles and
I like the distance this creates. It is certainly more civilised than picking
up poo in a flimsy plastic bag on a dog walk. 

Clearing away pig excrement with proper equipment which allows you to maintain a civilised, and sanitary, distance makes me wonder if – despite the paperwork – pigs might just trump dogs.

Astrid puts her trotters up on the seat beside me and enjoys a few pig food pellets.

Clearly this is our natural environment, so it’s probably just a matter of time before Astrid is snapped up
by a celebrity to live life first class. 

But for now, Astrid must mooch back to the mud, and I must head home to
wash pig poo off my wellies.

I am chuffed to bits to have spent an afternoon with Astrid, but as I think
it all over, on the train back to Marylebone, I know that I’ll never keep a pig as a pet. 

Aside from all the legal red tape, my lack of space
in London, and the trickiness of trying to take a pig for a walk, there’s always the fear that the micro pig might turn out to be not so tiny after all. 

I’ve seen headlines about 4 ounce « teacup » pigs growing bigger
than a bear, and frankly I find it terrifying.

But Ms Dion’s performance was meant to be a live one, and it has just been released as such on various streaming platforms.

Feb 8 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International on Thursday
missed estimates for fourth quarter profit and forecasts for 2024, with slowing sales of its flagship heated tobacco product IQOS
in particular concerning analysts.

The Marlboro cigarette maker has so far led a transition among tobacco giants towards smoking alternatives, with IQOS at the
core of that effort, consuming the vast majority of over $10 billion PMI
has poured into its transformation since 2008.

It said on Thursday that shipments of heated tobacco units grew by 6.1% in the fourth quarter,
compared with 18% growth in the third quarter.

Philip Morris added that it expected a further hit to shipments
over the coming year as a result of a ban on flavoured
heated tobacco in the European Union.

Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said however IQOS had now surpassed Marlboro in terms of net revenues.

« We are entering 2024 with strong momentum, » he said in a
statement.

Any sustained slowdown in IQOS sales was a problem for Philip Morris given its
significance for the business and the company’s premium
relative to peers, analysts said.

But Mark Giambrone, a portfolio manager at Barrow Hanley, a sub-adviser to
American Beacon’s Large Cap Value Fund which invests in PMI, was not too concerned.

IQOS is set to test launch in the United States, the world’s
largest market for smoking alternatives, this year with
a full roll-out later.

« When that happens it will be a boon for the stock and for their earnings base, » Giambrone said.

The company’s shares fell 3%, but recovered to stand around 1.6% lower by 11:20 a.m.
ET (1620 GMT).

PMI reported fourth-quarter adjusted profit of $1.36 per share.
Analysts had on average had expected a profit of $1.45.

It expects adjusted annual profit of between $6.32 and $6.44 per share,
while analysts were expecting $6.60 per share, LSEG data showed.

A British aircraft engineer died this morning after he is believed to have fallen through a sliding glass door in a freak accident in Thailand.

Gareth Wilson, 53, from Staines, Surrey, suffered fatal injuries at his home on an upmarket
housing estate in Pattaya, on Thailand’s southern coast.

The aircraft specialist is said to lost his balance on the bathroom tiles and crashed through the glass sliding door
of the toilet.

Despite suffering fatal injuries following the accident, he
managed to stagger back toward the bed as his frantic wife called for an ambulance.
However, he soon succumbed to his wounds.

that she was in shock following the death.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Surasing Sukmak of Huay Yai Police
Station said officers received a report at 7:10 am.

Officers arrived at the one-storey home in the upmarket neighbourhood and found Gareth’s family distraught over the accident.

Speaking today, the officer said: ‘There were four people in the house when the incident occurred.

They were the husband, the wife, their daughters.

‘The room where it happened was the shared bedroom of the husband and wife.

‘A security camera in the middle of the house recorded a very loud sound of
glass breaking at around 6:30 am.

‘The man’s wife ran and told their daughter who was
staying in another room to help her dad who fell on the shards of the glass
door.

‘The blood was concentrated in one place. No suspicious items were found.
We are sure that it was clear that he died by falling on the glass.

‘The deceased was a large man, so it would have been easy for a man of his size to break through the
glass door.

‘Gareth was so strong and healthy. He was everything to me’, she
said

‘His family said he has a congenital heart disease.’

Investigators said there were no signs of fighting in the room.
They were waiting for the family to regain composure before proceeding with
interrogations.

Meanwhile, Gareth’s body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem exam.

The Brit is listed as being a full-time base engineer with
PHI Aviation of Lafayette, Louisiana.

He was also a handicapped golfer, with a rank of 1,297 nationally in Thailand.

Joker: Folie À Deux is heading to streaming, just weeks after its theatrical release. 

The movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, will be available to rent from home starting October 29, in an effort to recoup
some of Warner Bros. investment into the film, as per Variety.

The musical, which bombed at the box office, is ‘poised to lose at
least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according to the publication.

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100 million on marketing and distribution, according to the report.

It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner Bros.
sources claim the number is $375 million.

estimates suggested by anonymous « insiders » or
« rival executives » are grossly wrong and continues a trend where rumor
is reported as fact.’

‘The film continues to play in theatrical release,
included with this week’s opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary run.’

So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally
after two weeks of release.

In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and $248.4 million globally after
three days of release.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning
film was considered a surefire hit for Warner Bros
Pictures, yet ended up being slammed by critics and failed to ignite at the box office. 

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic
book movie history as the film bombed at the box office on opening night. 

The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ —

from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month. 

A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill guy in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe $150 [million]
worldwide. Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was Joker.’

In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does not include a
DC Studios logo.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the Joker sequel, while
Phillips declined to comment to the publication.

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims
that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela
Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due
to his huge past successes.

It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took
control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the
studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April
2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at a
lower price point.’

The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per
cent less.

A source directly involved with the film recently shared: ‘The one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to what
the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail’; director Todd Phillips seen with Gaga and Phoenix at the LA premiere
September 30

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining
static.

A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los Angeles’.

A source directly involved with the film said:

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back – with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the decision to bring the film to Venice. 

Along with Gaga and Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie

Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio
album in February.

Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100 at
No. 27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album,
which she described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that she’s been focused
on the production side of her new songs. 

‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was really important to me making my seventh studio album was blending
live instrumentation with programming,’ she explained.

‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective
— it is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think
about music.’

She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more
in line with her iconic 2009 album, The Fame Monster. 

However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going too somber with her
sound. 

‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and
meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time — to be free of
your worries at home or walking through life,’ she insisted. 

Lady Gaga is focused on releasing her seventh
studio album this February following the disappointing reception to lead single Disease

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from music critics,
who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.

Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate
to the charts, with Disease debuting at No.

27 on the Hot 100 – her worst entry for a lead single
in 16 years.

On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of her biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars duet, Die With a Smile. 

The ballad has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No.
1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.

It comes after Gaga’s leading role in the disastrous Joker: Folie à Deux.
