‘The Joker 2 hate is so forced like did we watched

One fan predicted that the motion picture with stand the test of time with audiences.

‘I may be one of ten people who genuinely liked the Joker 2.
Remember me when society circles back to it in 10 years and says its a masterpiece,
‘ said the user. ‘The world just wasn’t ready for it yet.’

Said one user: ‘I actually thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you don’t like musicals or ‘art house’ style films you probably won’t
like it because it’s not made for you. The dynamic between Harley and Joker was brilliant and showcased the ‘obsession’ that is key to
that duo.’ 

The movie’s box office collapse was swift and has many in the industry wondering:
How did the highly anticipated sequel to an Oscar-winning, billion-dollar film with the same creative team
go wrong? Just three weeks ago, tracking services pegged the movie for a
$70 million debut, which would still have been down a fair amount from Joker’s record-breaking $96.2
million launch in October 2019. 

A number of fans took to social media to defend
the controversial sequel

Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking
away from the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element
not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise 

Reviews were mixed out of the Venice Film Festival, where it premiered in competition like the
first movie and even got a 12-minute standing ovation.

But the homecoming glow was short-lived, and the fragile foundation would
crumble in the coming weeks with its Rotten Tomatoes score dropping from 63 percent at Venice to 33 percent by its first weekend in theaters. Perhaps even more surprising were the
audience reviews: Ticket buyers polled on opening night gave the film a deadly D CinemaScore.

Exit polls from PostTrak weren’t any better. It got a meager
half star out of five possible.

‘That´s a double whammy that´s very difficult to recover from,’ said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore.
‘The biggest issue of all is the reported budget.

A $40 or $50 million opening for a less expensive movie would be a
solid debut.’

Joker: Folie à Deux cost at least twice as much as the
first film to produce, though reported figures vary at exactly how pricey it was to make.
Phillips told Variety that it was less than the reported $200 million; Others have it
pegged at $190 million. Warner Bros. released the film in 4,
102 locations in North America. About 12.5 percent of its
domestic total came from 415 IMAX screens.

Internationally, it’s earned $81.1 million from 25,788
screens, bringing its total global earnings estimate to $121.1 million. In the next two weeks,
Joker 2 will also open in Japan and China.

Second place went to Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot, which added $18.7
million in its second weekend, bringing its domestic total to nearly $64
million. Globally, it’s made over $100 million.
Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice  took third place in weekend five, Paramount’s Transformers One landed in fourth and Universal and
Blumhouse’s Speak No Evil rounded out the top five.

The other big new release of the weekend, Lionsgate’s White Bird,
flopped with just $1.5 million from just over 1,000 locations, despite
an A+ CinemaScore.

Overall, the weekend is up from the same frame last year, but Joker’s start
is an unwelcome twist for theater owners hoping to narrow the box office deficit.

The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces,
some who posit that it was deliberately alienating fans of
the first movie

Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix have said they
aspired to make something as ‘audacious’ as the first film.
The sequel added Lady Gaga into the fold , as a Joker superfan, and delved
further into the mind of Arthur Fleck, imprisoned at Arkham and awaiting trial for the murders he committed in the first.

It´s also a musical, with elaborately imagined song and
dance numbers to old standards. Gaga even released a
companion album called  »Harlequin,’ alongside the
film.

The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces,
some who posit that it was deliberately alienating fans of the first
movie. In cruder terms, it´s been called a ‘middle finger.’ But fans often ignore the advice of critics,
especially when it comes to opening their wallets to see revered
comic book characters on the big screen.

‘They took a swing for the fences,’ Dergarabedian said.
‘But except for a couple of outliers, audiences in 2024 seem to want to know what they´re getting when they´re
going to the theater. They want the tried and true,
the familiar.’ 

Deadline editor Anthony D´Alessandro thinks the problem started with the idea to make the
Joker sequel a musical. ‘No fan of the original movie wanted to see a musical sequel,’ he wrote on Saturday.

The first film was also divisive and the subject of much discourse, then about
whether it might send the wrong message to the wrong type of person. And yet people still flocked to see what the fuss was about.
Joker went on to pick up 11 Oscar nominations, including best picture and best director, and three wins.
It also made over $1 billion and was the highest-grossing R-rated film
of all time, until this summer when Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine took the crown.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S.

and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said: ‘It’s the worst film ever made.

‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there was a lot of talk like, ‘Oh, this was loved by incels.
This was loved by the wrong kinds of people. This sent the wrong kind of message.

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur

faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release
and flopped at the box office

‘And then I think, ‘What if we went the other way,’ and now they have
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dancing to
a point where it’s insane.’

He continued: ‘It has no plot. We would sit there,
me and these other guys were all dressed in these security outfits because we’re working
at the Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them and
we’d hear this crap and I’d go, ‘What the f*** is this?’
And they’d go, ‘This is going to bomb, man.’ I go, ‘This is the
worst thing I’ve ever seen.’

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, ‘What is the
plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls
in love with her in the prison?’ It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to social
media after its release last month to defend the sequel to Todd
Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.

The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic box office,
good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections,
and half that of its predecessor.

Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for
the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away
from the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical
element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.

‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as divisive as
people are making it out to be. I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they presented.
It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was

indeterminate beats throbs in the background. The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale,
luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t
speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur
that tastes far better than it ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a
glut of the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had
she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.

Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard
with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of
oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day
if I could. But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the
problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

dollar on Wednesday, as investors awaited more stimulus from the world’s
second-largest economy and the Federal Reserve’s September meeting minutes due
later in the day to gauge its policy path. The dollar held steady, giving some relief to the yuan after
a sharp rally to a seven-week high last week.

Spot yuan opened at 7.0650 per dollar and was last trading 12
pips lower than the previous late session close at 7.066. Prior
to the market opening, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC)
set the midpoint rate, around which the yuan is allowed to
trade in a 2% band, at 7.0568 per dollar, only 3 pips weaker than a Reuters’ estimate.

China’s blue-chip CSI300 index dropped for the first time since Sept.
13, poised to snapping a 10-day winning streak, after officials on Tuesday failed to offer much new
on stimulus plans to revive the economy. The yuan is down 0.7%
against the dollar so far this month, due to broad dollar strength,
but the currency has 0.5% firmed for the year-to-date.

China equities’ recent rally has raised the bar for an upside surprise

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100 million on marketing and distribution,
according to the report.

It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner
Bros. sources claim the number is $375 million.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report, saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous « insiders » or « rival executives »
are grossly wrong and continues a trend where rumor is reported as fact.’

‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this week’s opening in China, and will continue
to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary run.’

So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically
and $165 million globally after two weeks of release.

In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and $248.4 million globally after three days
of release.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning

film’s LA premiere afterparty last month. 

A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill
guy in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe $150 [million] worldwide.
Not a billion. People showed up because that guy
was Joker.’

In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does not include a DC Studios logo.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the Joker sequel,
while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims
that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros. Entertainment, and
CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.

It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca
and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control
of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s
cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he
told a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.
movie.’

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav
also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if
the director would make the sequel at a lower price point.’

The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per cent
less.

A source directly involved with the film recently shared: ‘The one thing about genre stuff:
If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail’; director

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining static.

A Warner spokesman told the publication the
studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los Angeles’.

A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one could
get through to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff:
If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are,
you’re going to fail.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back – with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the decision to bring the film to Venice. 

Along with Gaga and Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine
Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.

Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International on Thursday said it would be filing a premarket
tobacco product application (PMTA) in the United States
for its IQOS ILUMA product in October.

The company at its investor day said that while the PMTA timeline remains « hard to predict », it expects the launch of the
ILUMA heated tobacco units towards the second half of its
three-year forecast period of 2024 to 2026.

IQOS heats up packets of ground tobacco but does not burn them,
a process the company says potentially results in fewer health risks than traditional smoking

A PMTA is required to sell new tobacco products in the United States, with manufacturers required
to provide scientific data demonstrating a product is appropriate for the protection of public health.

Anyone who knows me has invariably been subject to a spiel
about how much I love Claudia Winkleman. In part, it’s because she’s so silly,
and in part, it’s because I’m a huge fan of everything she presents,

Since 2005, Claudia has worked with stylist Sinead McKeefry to perfect her signature style.
I’d describe it as soft goth: lots of black, velvet and chunky knits, with a fair few sequins and prints (particularly tartan) thrown in. I’m not alone in my reverence:
there are entire Instagram accounts dedicated to
tracking down the presenter’s outfits. But while they offer incredibly useful style inspo,
two issues arise repeatedly: Claudia’s clothes are usually hugely expensive or sold out (or both).

So when the Strictly host stepped out in a typically
preppy black velvet mini dress on Sunday, you’d be forgiven for assuming it was by some top-end designer.
Well, you’d be wrong. The mini dress actually came courtesy of one
of our favourite high street brands, Albaray – and you can pick it
up for less than £100.

The dress is made from plush fabric with contrast satin detailing.
The velvet makes it a little festive, perfect for celebratory bashes over the next few
months, particularly when paired with white stilettos à la Claud.
But it could be just as easily dressed down with white trainers or ballet flats
and a trench for a chic office outfit, so you’ll certainly get your wear out of it.  

Like all of Albaray’s products, it’s ethically made using responsible fabric and sent via
a carbon-neutral shipping method, so you can feel good about the dress’s eco-credentials as well as how it looks.
It’s currently in stock in a few sizes online (and in certain John Lewis concessions)
but like most things Claudia wears, it won’t stick around long.
