Dans le cadre de la semaine mondiale de l’argent (Global money week), « Établissements Le Calame » (Elc) qui a démarré ses activités sous la forme d’une école privée, en internat au Lac Rose en 2019, a organisé un panel sur le thème « Protège ton argent, sécurise ton avenir » à l’intention des élèves du lycée technique et industriel Maurice Delafosse de Dakar.
« Nos jeunes, en milieu scolaire et universitaire n’ont souvent pas accès à l’information. On ne nous a pas appris l’éducation financière à l’école. On pense que c’est un thème pour les adultes. Or, on se rend compte que beaucoup d’adultes eux mêmes ne gèrent pas très bien leurs finances », a déclaré Docteur Mariama Mary Fall.
Face à ce constat, dit-elle, il est temps qu’on change cet état de fait.

« C’est pourquoi on a tenu à organiser cet événement pour sensibiliser les jeunes sur l’éducation financière.
Plus les jeunes sont sensibilisés tôt, plus on a de la chance de les voir faire de meilleurs choix financiers dans la vie », a-t-elle expliqué en marge de l’événement organisé à l’auditorium du lycée technique et industriel Maurice Delafosse en partenariat avec le Laboratoire d’Innovation Sociale (Labis), la Ville de Dakar et Aflatoun International une ONG spécialisée en éducation sociale et financiére.
A l’en croire, avec les informations qu’ils ont eues grâce aux présentations faites par les représentants de l’Observatoire de la qualité des services financiers (Oqsf), de Ecobank Sénégal, de Invictus Capital & Finance, de ComDev Africa, les jeunes sont sensibilisés entre autres sur l’importance de l’épargne, de l’investissement en bourse, de l’entreprenariat, de l’assurance.
Habib Diallo, expert financier à l’Oqsf a fait comprendre aux jeunes que « l’éducation financière est pour bien gérer l’argent, les revenus » sans manquer de les sensibiliser sur les risques liés à l’usage des Services financiers numériques (Sfn).

Citant une étude de l’Oqsf avec le soutien de la Banque mondiale, M. Diallo a indiqué que les risques sont souvent liés à l’arnaque, à la fraude, la sur-facturation, les difficultés à utiliser les codes secrets (Analphabétisme), la méconnaissance des Sfn entre autres.
Dans le même sillage, Abdoulaye Ndoye de la Société de gestion et d’intermédiation (Sgi) Invictus Capital & finance a soutenu que « l’investissement n’est pas réservé aux riches comme le pensent beaucoup de personnes ».
Pour preuve, il a évoqué la maison-mère de Ecobank dont « l’action coûte 17 francs Cfa, donc accessible à tout le monde ».
Dans la foulée, M. Ndoye a mis en garde son auditoire, notamment les jeunes : « si vous ne savez pas bien gérer votre argent, vous allez le perdre ».

Dans la même perspective, Mamadou Baïlo Bah de ComDev Africa a invité les jeunes à s’engager dans des organisations et de participer aux actions sociales dans leurs communautés, car cela contribue à leur préparation pour le milieu professionnel marqué notamment par des collaborations, le travail en équipe, la mise en œuvre d’activités entre autres.
Il a, par ailleurs, rappelé l’importance de l’économie sociale et solidaire.
En ce sens, il a indiqué que le paysage de l’économie sociale et solidaire, au Sénégal, est marqué par l’existence de 45 mille unités de travail avec un chiffre d’affaires de plus de 382 millards de francs Cfa, 350 mille emplois et une contribution de 5% au Produit intérieur brut (Pib).
Les élèves ont été également sensibilisés sur l’importance de l’assurance dont le « secteur fait partie des plus réglementés » , ce qui « ne permet pas aux assureurs de faire n’importe quoi » mais aussi sur l’épargne en banque qui est un moyen de « fructifier ses revenus avec une rémunération ».
La deuxième partie de la journée a été consacrée au programme ‘’Gap semester’’ ou Semestre de transition mis en place par « Établissements Le Calame » avec son partenaire le Laboratoire d’innovation sociale (Labis) pour les nouveaux bacheliers.
