Fondée en 1924, la Paroisse Sainte Thérèse de l’enfant Jésus d’Oussouye a atteint cette année cent ans d’existence. A cet effet, les fidèles Catholiques de la localité, l’ont célébré, du 3 au 5 mai.
Un moment de recueillement pour les fidèles chrétiens, de rendre grâce à Dieu, de magnifier le rôle des précurseurs locaux qui ont accompagné les missionnaires dans l’implantation du christianisme, dans la zone.
Selon le Curé de la Paroisse, Abbé Samson Kantoussan, « le sens de la célébration de ce centenaire est de penser l’avenir à partir du présent, tout en nous permettant de nous acquitter d’un devoir de mémoire envers les pionniers et toutes les personnes qui, grâce à leurs actions et leur travail, ont permis à la nouvelle génération d’hériter de ce patrimoine aujourd’hui », invitant, les jeunes à « faire rayonner le christianisme dans l’esprit de fraternité, de convivialité et de cohésion sociale »., a rapporté l’Aps.
L’abbé Kantoussan a profité de la célébration du centenaire de sa paroisse pour inviter le nouveau gouvernement à « respecter ses engagements et à œuvrer pour le bien-être de la population sénégalaise ».
Nous voulons que les Sénégalais soient bien formés, bien soignés et qu’ils aient de quoi vivre dignement.
Soulignant que, « les défis de l’église sont les défis de notre société » a-t-il déclaré, ajoutant que « le peuple sénégalais a soif d’aller très vite vers un développement et de voir une société dignement organisée ».
Le secrétaire général du ministère de la Jeunesse, des Sports et de la Culture, Abib Léon Ndiaye natif d’Oussouye, venu représenter l’Etat à cette cérémonie a exprimé sa « joie intense d’être témoin de cette journée qui célèbre les cent ans de la paroisse ».
Pour lui, « cette paroisse a encadré nos premiers pas dans la foi et la chrétienté.
Nous avons bénéficié de ses bienfaits matériels, mais également de ses actions de promotion humaine, une des missions de l’église », a -t-il indiqué
