Le Conseil des diffuseurs et éditeurs de presse du Sénégal (Cdeps), continue de pousser pour un »dialogue rénové avec la presse ». Face aux journalistes mercredi encore, Mamoudou Ibra Kane et compagnie ont dépeint une nouvelle fois une situation alarmante du secteur. « La presse sénégalaise vit des moments très difficiles et la survie du secteur est hypothétique.
De nombreuses entreprises sont en situation de quasi-faillite depuis le Covid-19. À terme, la menace de fermeture est bien réelle. Plusieurs centaines d’emplois vont être perdus ».
Face à cette « situation périlleuse », renchérite le Cdeps, « les cotisations sociales pour les travailleurs ne sont plus versées régulièrement, sinon pas du tout, et la couverture sanitaire n’est plus assurée pour nombre de cotisants ». l’organisation, «cette situation catastrophique des entreprises de presse et par conséquent celle des travailleurs ont surtout empiré durant l’année 2024».
Le Cdeps de rappeler que ces mesures ont conduit à tous les problèmes connus à ce jour.
« Asphyxiées fiscalement par des décisions injustes et économiquement affaiblies par des mesures de bannissement au niveau des entreprises publiques qui sont interdites de publicité par leur tutelle, les entreprises de presse, donc nécessairement privées des recettes habituelles, sont réellement menacées dans leur existence. Il s’y est ajouté la décision à caractère superfétatoire d’une reconnaissance ministérielle pour le média déjà identifié dans le respect du Code de la presse ».
Aux yeux du Cdeps, il n’est pas de l’intérêt du gouvernement de laisser la presse succomber.
« Les médias sont et resteront toujours un vecteur de développement. La presse n’est ni un adversaire, encore moins un ennemi. Au contraire, la presse peut être un formidable outil de vulgarisation des politiques publiques des dirigeants légitimement choisis par les Sénégalais. C’est justement le rôle que la presse privée veut continuer de jouer ».
Lors de cette conférence de presse, le Cdeps n’a pas manqué de réitérer sa volonté de prendre part activement au »dialogue rénové avec la presse » que Son Excellence le président de la République a annoncé dans son appel du 14 août 2024 en Conseil des ministres.
En outre, le patronat a souhaité l’implication de tout le monde pour sauver les meubles.
« Nous appelons également tous les citoyens sénégalais, la représentation nationale, les confréries musulmanes et l’Église, la société civile, les partis politiques, les acteurs des médias, toute l’élite économique et intellectuelle, les partenaires du Sénégal pour contribuer à asseoir. un environnement favorable au renforcement de la liberté de la presse et de l’État de droit ».
