Le seul petit pas effectué renvoie à l’adoption de l’Acte additionnel relatif au cadre juridique du Système de paiement et de règlement de la CEDEAO après que les institutions se sont mises d’accord.
Le projet de création de monnaie unique de la Cédéao a connu un blocage depuis décembre 2019 quand, à la surprise générale, Alassane Ouattara, à côté d’Emmanuel Macron, a annoncé que les pays de la zone Cfa (Uemoa) ont décidé d’adopter l’Eco en premier. Ce qui est en porte-à-faux avec le processus au sein de la Cédéao, sans compter les conditions de cette entrée annoncée par le président ivoirien et qui diffèrent de ce qui a été discuté dans l’instance régionale.
