Ce dimanche 31 mars 2024, une opération d’envergure a été menée par la Brigade mobile des Douanes de Koumpentoum, relevant de la Subdivision de Tambacounda et située dans la Région douanière du Sud-Est selon Seneweb.
Entre minuit et une heure du matin, les agents ont réussi à saisir un impressionnant total de 91,84 kg de cocaïne, répartis dans 82 paquets.
L’opération de saisie s’est déroulée sur l’axe routier reliant Tambacounda à Koumpentoum.
Les douaniers ont d’abord intercepté un véhicule de marque « Mercedes élégance », arborant des plaques d’immatriculation étrangères.
La fouille minutieuse de ce premier véhicule a révélé la présence de 42 plaquettes de cocaïne, astucieusement dissimulées dans une cachette spécialement aménagée dans le coffre.
Poursuivant leur intervention, les agents ont ensuite pris en chasse un second véhicule « Mercedes élégance » sur une distance de 30 km.
La fouille de ce dernier a conduit à la découverte de 40 plaquettes de cocaïne, également dissimulées dans le coffre du véhicule selon le même mode opératoire que le premier.
La valeur marchande de cette saisie est estimée à une somme de 7 347 200 000 francs CFA.
Les deux individus à bord des véhicules, de nationalité étrangère, ont été placés en garde à vue.
Cette saisie exceptionnelle témoigne de l’engagement sans faille de la Brigade mobile des Douanes de Koumpentoum dans la lutte contre le trafic illicite de drogues.
Elle illustre la détermination de cette unité à faire face aux menaces sécuritaires, qu’elles soient classiques ou émergentes, comme l’a récemment rappelé le Directeur général des Douanes, Dr Mbaye Ndiaye, lors de sa visite dans la région.
