Cela ouvre la porte à une amnistie et donc une possibilité de candidature pour Khalifa Sall et Karim Wade lors de la prochaine présidentielle de 2024.
Pour rappel, Khalifa Sall a été condamné, en 2018, à cinq ans de prison ferme, assortie d’une amende de 5 millions de francs CFA. Karim Wade, pour sa part, a été condamné en 2015 à une peine de six ans de prison ferme, et d’une amende de 138 milliards de francs CFA.
À cause de ces condamnations, les deux hommes n’avaient pu se présenter lors de la présidentielle de 2019.
Avec cette décision présidentielle, leur avenir politique est relancé.
