FIBA Africa Regional Youth Camp débarque à Saly (Mbour) pour la 2e étape de sa tournée africaine. Ce camp organisé par FIBA Afrique en partenariat avec la NBA, s’est ouvert, ce mardi, à la NBA Academy (Institut Diambars).
C’est ce qu’on appelle faire la promotion du basketball africain en commençant par la base. Le dernier trimestre de l’année s’annonce donc charger pour le ballon orange sur le continent africain avec le programme des camps régionaux de jeunes de FIBA Afrique. Après Madagascar il y a juste une semaine, le Sénégal est à l’honneur du 18 au 20 octobre 2022. Avant le Maroc la semaine prochaine.
Le camp au Sénégal exclusivement féminin
Exceptionnellement, l’édition du Sénégal est exclusivement féminine. L’objectif pour les encadreurs est le développement du basket. C’est d’ailleurs la raison pour laquelle ils ont offert une opportunité aux jeunes filles, pour aller au plus haut sommet. Du coup, les jeunes femmes (coaches et joueuses) sont encadrées dans le but de les encourager à jouer et de leur donner confiance en leur capacité à exceller comme leurs homologues masculins.
45 participantes de 15 pays et 20 entraîneures
Ce camp qui se déroule au Sénégal plus précisément à l’Institut Diambars de Saly, réunit 45 participantes de 15 pays et 20 entraîneures. Il s’agit de jeunes joueuses de toutes les fédérations et des meilleurse des derniers camps nationaux de jeunes de FIBA Afrique qui se sont tenus en Guinée, à Maurice, au Tchad, en Ouganda, au Mozambique, en Algérie, en Tunisie, au Burkina Faso, au Gabon et au Bénin.
A noter la présence à Saly du président de la Fédération sénégalaise de basketball Me Babacar Ndiaye et de la présidente de la Zone 2, Aya Pouye qui a ouvert la cérémonie.
