Selon le Pr Yaya Kane, néphrologue à l’hôpital de Ziguinchor, dont les propos ont été repris par le Quotidien Walfadjri, « du lundi au vendredi on peut dénombrer 10 voire 15 malades tous les jours. Malheureusement le nombre de cas ne cesse d’augmenter », a-t-il regretté.
« La plupart du temps, ces facteurs de risque sont liés au diabète et à l’hypertension artérielle.
Il y a aussi les produits toxiques, ça peut être les médicaments ; il y a aussi la pharmacopée traditionnelle.
Beaucoup de populations de cette zone utilisent des décoctions de manière abusive », diagnostique le spécialiste qui estime qu’il faut des néphrologues en nombre pour mieux prendre en charge ce genre de pathologies qui posent un véritable problème de santé publique en Casamance, comme partout ailleurs dans le pays.
