    À l’occasion des Journées Mondiales de la Jeunesse (JMJ) – dont la localité de Pout Diack (département de Thiès) a l’honneur d’être l’hôte cette année –, Mgr André Guèye a délivré un message fort à la jeunesse lors de la messe solennelle. Un message empreint de motivation, d’état d’esprit et d’ingéniosité.

    « Il n’est pas question d’âge ou de force physique. […] Il y a des jeunes qui sont complètement amortis, immobiles, amorphes, inactifs, sans aucune initiative, attendant tout des parents ou des adultes », a déploré l’administrateur du diocèse de Thiès.

    Puis il a ajouté : « Il y a une jeunesse qui est un état d’esprit, une mentalité, une qualité d’être. […] Rappelez-vous les JMJ de Saint-Louis, le 28 janvier 2024 : quel était le thème ? “Ceux qui espèrent dans le Seigneur marchent sans se fatiguer”.

    Et qu’avais-je défini comme caractéristiques de la jeunesse ?

    J’avais dit qu’elle doit se traduire par le dynamisme – un jeune doit être dynamique, vivant –, par la générosité dans le service, par l’ingéniosité. Il faut prendre des initiatives ; n’attendez pas qu’on décide à votre place », a-t-il insisté.

    Et d’ajouter : « Sur ce plan, il y a beaucoup d’adultes qui se reconnaissent encore jeunes – et certainement beaucoup d’entre vous ici présents. Je les félicite… ».

    Rappelons que le thème des JMJ de Pout Diack est : « Vous aussi, vous rendrez témoignage, parce que vous êtes avec moi ».
