Le sport à Kolda, le football en particulier, souffre d’un manque d’espaces d’expression. Ainsi le nouveau maire de la commune annonce la construction d’un stade municipal.
Selon l’édile de la ville, ce stade doit contenir toutes les normes sportives et toutes les commodités pour un rayonnement du sport, du football koldois en particulier, qui peine à jouer les premiers rôles dans ce pays malgré la disponibilité des talents.
D’ailleurs en termes de palmarès, le football koldois s’est toujours limité au championnat national en National 1 ou 2 ; certainement fautes d’infrastructures sportives. Et voilà que Mame Boye Diao, qui a déjà offert un bus climatisé tout neuf aux sportifs koldois, cherche à rehausser davantage les performances en termes de sport.
D’après Le Quotidien, la construction d’un stade municipal est une réponse à la demande pressante de la jeunesse de Kolda par ses multiples structures sportives qui se disputent le seul espace disponible qu’est le stade régional implanté dans le périmètre communal de Kolda.
Notons que cet échange avec les jeunes a été initié dans le cadre des rencontres avec les forces vives de la commune afin de renforcer le cadre de gouvernance participative que l’actuel premier magistrat de la ville avait promis lors de la campagne électorale aux élections locales.
