« Mon premier projet pour les cinq ans à venir sera de régler les problèmes liés à l’approvisionnement en eau potable et l’assainissement de la ville sainte de Touba », a-t-il déclaré, ajoutant que « nous avons la ferme volonté de régler définitivement le problème de l’eau et celui de l’assainissement. J’en fais une priorité pour ce mandat afin de permettre aux populations de Touba de vivre aisément et paisiblement ».
Le chef de l’État s’exprimait à l’occasion de sa visite de courtoisie auprès du khalife général des mourides en prélude du grand Magal de Touba, prévu vendredi 23 août 2024.
« Le ministre de l’Hydraulique et de l’Assainissement l’a déjà dit. Mais, je tenais à le réitérer ici devant vous pour que vous sachiez que le problème de l’assainissement et celui de l’accès à l’eau dans la ville de Touba constituent l’un de mes projets prioritaires », a insisté M. Faye.
Qui a indiqué que les services techniques de son gouvernement travaillent déjà pour mettre en œuvre ce projet qui « tient à cœur » le khalife général des mourides.
Selon lui, ce projet de transfert d’eau qui va au-delà de Touba, permettra de régler le problème de l’accès à l’eau dans les localités traversées comme Thiès, Mbour et Dakar.
L’objectif, a indiqué le président de la République, est de soulager les populations de Touba qui depuis plusieurs années sont confrontés à des inondations et à un manque criant d’eau.
