Dans un contexte de montée en popularité du Maracana, l’Association Sénégalaise de Maracana (ASEMA) se mobilise pour préparer la sélection nationale à affronter deux équipes lors d’un tournoi de qualification pour la première Coupe du Monde de Maracana, prévue à Abidjan en septembre 2024.
Le tournoi, qui se tiendra du 26 au 27 avril au Guinée-Bissau, rassemblera trois pays – le Sénégal, le Niger et la Guinée-Bissau – pour une compétition entre équipes seniors masculines âgées de 35 à 44 ans.
Fort de son expérience lors des précédentes éditions de la Coupe d’Afrique de Maracana, le Sénégal est confiant dans sa capacité à briller à nouveau sur la scène internationale.
Avant leur départ le 25 avril, une phase de présélection a été organisée, avec la victoire finale de Guédiawaye Maracana lors d’un tournoi regroupant 5 équipes.
Cela a permis à l’ASEMA de finaliser une sélection de 10 joueurs, représentant divers clubs de Guédiawaye, Bargny, Thiaroye, entre autres.
Cependant, l’ASEMA, qui fonctionne sur fonds propres, œuvre pour la mise en place d’un Comité National de Promotion (CNP) afin de bénéficier du soutien de l’État dans la promotion de ce sport. Dans cette optique, l’association sollicite l’aide du gouvernement pour garantir la participation optimale de la délégation sénégalaise à cette compétition.
La délégation sénégalaise est prête à quitter le pays le 25 avril 2024, avec l’espoir et la détermination de représenter dignement le Sénégal dans cette discipline émergente.
Cette étape marque le début d’une aventure sportive prometteuse pour le Maracana sénégalais, avec l’objectif ultime de la qualification pour la Coupe du Monde.
