Le président de la République a procédé ce matin au lancement des travaux du mémorial de Gorée, sur la corniche Ouest. L’Ile de Gorée plaque tournante de la traite négrière aura son mémorial.
Qui selon son commissaire général, Amadou Lamine Sall, devrait attirer huit cent mille touristes et générer plus de trois milliards de francs CFA par an.
Le mémorial de Gorée, d’après les autorités va abriter des salles de cinéma, d’exposition, un jardin des peuples noirs, un souk de 32 boutiques et d’autres espaces.
Cette cérémonie de lancement a vu la participation de Colette Césaire, fille d’Aimé Césaire. L’Agence de promotion de l’investissement et des grands travaux (APIX) est chargée de l’exécution des travaux.
