Après un passage de 6 mois à Elite Falcon (Dubaï), avant de revenir au Sénégal pour jouer à Besport Académie, Mamadou Dieng âgé de 20 ans, évoluant au poste d’attaquant, s’est officiellement engagé avec Hartford Athletic pensionnaire de la deuxième division nord américaine la semaine dernière.
Il a paraphé un contrat d’un an plus une année en option avec son nouveau club.
Mamadou Dieng est un attaquant qui marque beaucoup de buts, si l’on se fie à ses statistiques de la défunte saison avec Besport, il a réussi à claquer un triplé face à la Renaissance de Yoff (3-1), en coupe du Sénégal chez les juniors, remportée par son équipe.
En championnat régional sénior, contre Lothia, Dieng a encore fait parler de lui en marquant un quadruplé (11-1), en deuxième journée, avant son départ aux Etats-Unis, il a eu à marquer sept buts, toutes compétitions confondues.
Il a marqué son premier but pour son tout premier match contre Colorado Rapids (2-2), le 14 février 2024 en amical.
Ce championnat est un tremplin pour ce jeune attaquant natif de Thiaroye sur mer. Il a déjà marqué les esprits dans son nouveau club et les dirigeants lui ont fait savoir qu’il peut signer dans un futur proche, dans les grands clubs s’il continue sur sa lancée.
