A un mois du rendez-vous continental, le Sénégal va livrer ce mercredi 13 décembre une pré-liste de 55 joueurs. Aliou Cissé aura quelques jours pour dégager son groupe de performance avant le 4 janvier, date-limite du dépôt de la liste définitive des 27 joueurs.
Après ses derniers matchs contre le Soudan du Sud et le Togo, comptant pour les éliminatoires de la Coupe du Monde 2026, Aliou Cissé aura sans doute le soin de faire les réajustements.
La décision d’autoriser une liste de 27 joueurs prend en compte les préoccupations du sélectionneur des Lions qui n’avait pas manqué d’interpeller la Caf sur sa décision initiale de retourner à la liste à 23, contre les 28 autorisés depuis la CAN 2021 pour cause de Covid-19. Ce, en raison des nombreux impairs auxquels les sélections peuvent être confrontées.
« Depuis le début des éliminatoires, toutes les équipes ont convoqué entre 28 et 30 joueurs Aujourd’hui, tout le monde est conscient de la dureté de cette CAN, des difficultés qui existent dans cette CAN. Entre contre-performances, suspensions et maladies, je pensais que la CAF aurait pu ne serait-ce que laisser le fait qu’on puisse être à 26 ou à 27.
En réalité, ça ne gâchera rien car pour nous les entraîneurs, ça nous permet d’avoir plus de possibilités. Ce sont des situations où la CAF devrait nous consulter en tant que technicien », avait-il relevé lors de la publication de sa liste contre le Sud Soudan et le Togo. En direction de la “Côte d’Ivoire 2023”, l’équipe du Sénégal devrait se regrouper à Dakar avant de rallier son camp de base à Yamoussoukro.
