Au Sénégal, l’Organisation internationale de la migration (OIM) va sélectionner cent jeunes de la ville de Saint-Louis pour leur faire bénéficier d’une formation dans différentes filières relevant de la lutte contre la dégradation de l’environnement et le changement climatique.
C’est ce qu’a révélé Valérie Falaschi, cheffe de mission de cette organisation intergouvernementale lundi 12 février 2024 à Saint-Louis, en marge de la cérémonie de lancement officiel de la deuxième phase d’un projet intra-régional de migration de la main d’œuvre.
Le comité technique du projet va choisir cent jeunes de Saint-Louis pour les former dans différentes filières de la lutte contre le changement climatique, comme l’agroécologie, la pisciculture et l’agroforesterie, activités en vue à Saint-Louis, a indiqué Mme Falaschi, précisant que la première phase de ce projet sera mise en œuvre en Gambie, en Guinée Bissau et en Guinée, le Sénégal étant ciblé pour la deuxième phase.
A l’en croire, le projet cible notamment les migrants de retour et bénéficiera de l’accompagnement des universitaires qui ont développé des études dans ce domaine. Elle a rappelé que Saint-Louis est également une zone de départ.
Poursuivant son allocution, elle a renchéri que vingt entreprises seront choisies pour bénéficier de crédit et d’équipements visant à développer des activités de lutte contre la dégradation de l’environnement.
« Ce projet est très important, pas seulement pour le gouvernement mais aussi pour l’OIM et les partenaires », en ce qu’il « vise à mettre en relation les changements climatiques et la mobilité du territoire », a déclaré la représentante résidente de l’OIM.
De son côté, Aissatou Diouf Niang, conseillère technique au ministère des Sénégalais de l’extérieur, a salué le lancement de ce projet dont l’intérêt pour l’Etat justifie la forte présence de ses représentants. Elle a cité, à ce propos, la présence des responsables des Eaux-et-forets et du ministère de l’Environnement, preuve selon elle que ce projet se déroule en étroite collaboration avec le gouvernement.
Annonçant que « les autres régions pourraient en bénéficier dans le futur », elle a évoqué le choix porté sur Saint-Louis pour accueillir ce projet, rappelant que « la ville tricentenaire est une zone de départ et a une particularité par rapport à cette migration irrégulière ».
Il y a également le fait que « les migrants de retour sont souvent confrontés à des problèmes d’intégration par le biais d’activités génératrices de revenus ».
