La route a encore fait parler d’elle. Un véhicule particulier de marque Toyota, sur la route nationale numéro 6 à hauteur du pont du cimetière de Médina Coura à Tamba, a fauché un soldat de 1er classe du nom de Pierre Marie Bassene âgé de 30 ans.
Le drame s’est produit dans la soirée de mercredi aux environs de 18 heures. Selon l’enquête, le militaire n’était pas en service au moment de l’accident. Il se rendait au stade pour assister au match du championnat populaire communément appelé navétanes.
Le chauffard du véhicule est sorti en voulant doubler deux camions avant d’aller trouver le militaire qui roulait tranquillement dans son sens. La collision frontale inévitable. Du fait de la violence du choc, le soldat a été projeté sur le pare-brise du véhicule. Il s’en est tiré avec de graves blessures.
Évacué à l’hôpital régional de Tamba par les sapeurs-pompiers, il a finalement succombé à ses blessures à la tête et au visage. La police qui a fait le constat a mis aux arrêts le chauffeur Mamadou A. Diallo âgé de 55 ans.
Originaire de Birkilane, le chauffard a été déféré pour homicide involontaire. De sources proches de la famille du défunt domicilié au quartier Quinzambougou, le soldat venait juste de se marier à Enampor en Casamance d’où il est originaire.
