Depuis l’annonce de la mort de François Mancabou alias « Le Vieux Gradé », le peuple sénégalais est étreint par la tristesse et la douleur comme si le Sénégal avait été frappé par un deuil national. Car il ne manque plus que de mettre les drapeaux en berne pour déplorer la mort de cet honorable père de famille parti dans des circonstances douloureuses. D’ailleurs, même les télévisions et « téléyoutubes » les plus « couchées » ont mis focus noir sur la mort de François Mancabou. Au ban des accusés, le commissaire de police Bara Sangharé.

Encore lui ! Il est vrai de par le passé, « Le Témoin quotidien l’avait défendu dans l’affaire qui l’opposait à la pharmacie Fadilou Mbacké de la Patte d’oie. Mais cette fois-ci le commissaire Bara Sangharé semble être mal barré. Rien que le fait que le défunt ait arrêté avec force et brutalité constituait déjà une déviance grave. Or, l’excès de zèle n’a pas sa place dans un Etat de droit où les hommes partent, les institutions demeurent. Le commissaire Bara Sangharé et ses hommes ont sans doute oublié que leurs méthodes d’arrestation ne font que desservir le régime du président Macky Sall. Hier en sondant l’opinion de nombreux lecteurs, « Le Témoin » a tristement constaté que de nombreux électeurs indécis vont sanctionner la liste de la coalition Benno du président Macky Sall dont le régime est qualifié de « policier ».

Toujours est-il que dans cette triste affaire, l’histoire des rapports entre la police et la population s’est amèrement encore répétée. Une histoire longtemps marquée par la légende noire qui accompagnait cette police sénégalaise, appréhendée comme bras armé d’un État-Apr répressif et dictatorial. Et ne laissant aux opposants qu’une alternative réduite : la prison, la mort ou la soumission.
