Ce projet devait être fait par l’État du Sénégal, mais ils ont accepté de s’associer avec nous dans cet important projet. Nous allons effectuer la pose de la première pierre, entamer les travaux jusqu’où on peut aller en fonction de nos moyens. Ils pourraient prendre le relais dans le futur, afin d’agrandir ou de rehausser les plateaux. C’est pourquoi nous avons demandé cette superficie», a fait savoir Gorgui Sy Dieng.
Plusieurs personnalités sont attendues pour la pose de la première pierre est prévue ce dimanche 14 août.
«Derrick Rose est au Sénégal pour cet évènement. Il est venu avec une cinquantaine de personnes. C’est aussi un moyen pour nous de vendre la destination Sénégal. Les gens vont parler de notre pays sur les réseaux sociaux et c’est une bonne chose. Derrick va parler de tout ce qu’il a vu durant son séjour au Sénégal. Nous n’avons que le Sénégal et nous cherchons toujours à le hisser au sommet. Je n’attends rien en retour, même pas «Merci». J’essaie toujours de voir ce que je peux apporter pour l’essor de mon pays», a souligné le basketteur.
Gorgui Sy Dieng compte poursuivre son soutien envers les populations à travers sa Fondation. «Je ne savais pas l’impact au sein de la population. C’est une association (ndlr : Ndimbël Jaboot,- Aidez les gens en wolof) qui faisait ça mais elle n’avait pas les moyens. Donc, je me suis engagé à les soutenir. Eux, ils voulaient circoncire 200 enfants. Je leur ai dit pourquoi pas 1200.
Toutes les familles n’ont pas les moyens de le faire pour leurs enfants. On va aider tant qu’on peut et sans rien attendre. Je ferai de mon mieux pour soutenir toutes actions qui peuvent changer la vie des gens», a déclaré Gorgui Sy Dieng.
Il est aussi revenu sur l’organisation du camp. «Le Covid-19, les fenêtres FIBA, entre autres programmes n’ont pas favorisé la tenue du camp ces dernières années. On a jugé nécessaire d’organiser le camp ce dimanche, pour permettre aux jeunes d’apprendre de nouvelles choses. J’ai le matériel chez moi depuis deux ans. Mais, on a pu organiser un tournoi national des jeunes à travers ma Fondation», a-t-il dit.
