C’est à présent officiel. Axian Telecom prend le contrôle de Free Sénégal. «Axian Telecom a le plaisir d’annoncer la clôture de la transaction, annoncée le 24 juillet 2023, afin d’augmenter à 80% sa participation dans sa joint-venture sénégalaise (Free au Sénégal )», a annoncé la compagnie de télécommunications.
En juillet, l’opérateur déjà présent dans plusieurs pays d’Afrique, avait annoncé l’acquisition de 40% de parts dans Free Sénégal. Ce qui porterait sa participation à 80%. L’opération était, cependant, soumise à l’approbation des autorités sénégalaises. Celles-ci ont finalement béni la transaction en ce début octobre.
Ainsi, Axian prend le contrôle de Free qui est, aujourd’hui, deuxième au classement des opérateurs de téléphonie au Sénégal, avec 24,47% de parts de marché.
Axian, de son côté, est un fournisseur panafricain de services de télécoms opérant sur huit marchés, notamment en Tanzanie, à Madagascar, au Togo, en Ouganda, à la Réunion et Mayotte et aux Comores.
Il opère dans trois secteurs d’activité fournissant des services de réseau mobile ainsi que des infrastructures numériques et des services de mobile money.
