La Confédération africaine de Football (CAF) a annoncé la date du tirage au sort des éliminatoires de la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations U23 (CAN)-Maroc 2023. La cérémonie aura lieu, ce jeudi 18 août 2022, à 11h00 GMT, au Caire (Égypte).
La Coupe d’Afrique des Nations U23 est prévue en juin 2023 au Maroc et elle servira de tournoi qualificatif pour les Jeux olympiques d’été Paris 2024. Au total, 39 équipes sont engagées dans les éliminatoires. Le pays hôte, le Maroc, est qualifié d’office à la CAN U23. Au premier tour, 20 équipes entreront en lice et les vainqueurs (10) vont retrouver les 18 autres formations exemptées (au total 28) pour le deuxième tour.
Ensuite, les 14 équipes qualifiées du deuxième tour disputeront le troisième et dernier tour (matchs à élimination directe aller et retour) et les sept équipes qualifiées rejoindront le pays hôte, le Maroc pour le tournoi final. Les matchs du premier tour sont prévus entre les 19 et 27 septembre 2022, le deuxième tour du 21 au 23 octobre 2022 pour les matchs aller et du 28 au 30 octobre 2022 pour les matchs retour.
Au niveau de l’UFOA-A, la Guinée, le Mali, le Sénégal et la Sierra Leone sont exemptés de premier tour. Par contre, la Gambie, la Guinée-Bissau et la Mauritanie seront parmi les 20 équipes en lice pour le premier tour.
