Mamadou Gaye a été arrêté lundi dernier à Kalifourou (Kédougou) transportant 125 kg de chanvre indien à bord d’une ambulance du centre de santé de Colobane. Il a été déféré au parquet de Kolda pour trafic de drogue. Dans son édition de ce vendredi, Libération a détaillé les circonstances de la chute du mis en cause et, surtout, ses incroyables aveux.
Le journal rapporte que l’ambulance venait de Médina Wandifa pour Dakar. Mamadou Gaye est arrivé sirène battante au niveau du checkpoint de la zone érigé par les gendarmes. Il descend lui-même de son véhicule pour dégager les plots disposés sur le bitume, histoire de se frayer un chemin. Première bizarrerie relevée par les hommes en bleu.
Ces derniers décident alors de l’interpeller sur ce qu’il transporte et sa destination. Il affirme qu’il a à bord un malade qui doit être évacué d’urgence à Dakar. Ses interlocuteurs sont sceptiques. Se demandant comment une ambulance peut quitter Dakar juste pour venir récupérer un malade à Médina Wandifa.
Les gendarmes sentent le coup. Ils demandent à Mamadou Gaye d’ouvrir le véhicule pour vérifier ses affirmations. Ce dernier rétorque que les portes ne s’ouvrent pas de l’extérieur. Et lorsque les gendarmes lui demandent alors de couper le moteur et la sirène, le suspect répond que s’il coupe le moteur, l’ambulance ne pourra pas redémarrer. C’est ainsi que les gendarmes ouvrent eux-mêmes les portes et tombent sur la drogue.
Arrêté et placé en garde à vue, Mamadou Gaye passe aux aveux. D’après Libération, il confie aux enquêteurs qu’il est depuis quelques mois au service de trafiquants de drogue basés entre Médina Wandifa et Dakar.
Mamadou Gaye ajoute que l’ambulance est supposée être en panne. Il l’a fait réparer à l’insu de ses supérieurs pour effectuer ses missions. Et qu’à la fin de chaque opération, il la gare chez lui.
