Et leur stratégie était simple: mettre en place un bloc bas pour déjouer tous les plans d’Aliou Cissé.
Mais le sélectionneur du Sénégal avait réussi à corriger ces errements qui étaient à l’origine de nombreuses critiques lors de la phase de poules de la Can 2021 au Cameroun. Dès les huitièmes de finale de la coupe d’Afrique, les Lions avaient montré un nouveau visage. Aliou Cissé avait changé de stratégie en jouant avec un système en 4-3-3. Un choix qui a porté les Lions au sommet du continent.
L’astuce, qui avait permis à Cissé et ses hommes d’entrer dans l’histoire, commence à s’effriter. Face au Rwanda, mardi 7 juin, au stade Me Abdoulaye Wade, pour le compte de la deuxième journée des éliminatoires de la Can 2023, Koulibaly et sa bande se sont heurtés au mur rwandais. Cissé a refait face une équation qui hante souvent son esprit.
Un changement tactique payant
En effet, le technicien avait préféré un 4-2-3-1 contre le Bénin lors de leur première sortie. Une stratégie qui a donné le résultat escompté, car les Lions ont réussi à s’imposer devant les Ecureuils sur la marque de 3-1. Face au Rwanda, Cissé a reconduit le même système. Mais cette fois, la stratégie n’a pas entièrement porté ses fruits, notamment sur la manière.
Les Mambas (surnom de l’équipe du Rwanda) ont mis en place un bloc qui a contré pendant longtemps les velléités offensives des Lions. Il a fallu au Sénégal un pénalty transformé par Sadio Mané, après de multiples changements tactiques du coach, pour arracher la victoire dans les ultimes secondes de la partie. ‘’Je m’attendais à un match difficile. Au début, on maîtrisait le ballon, mais on n’avait pas réussi à trouver les espaces dans ce bloc rwandais. Il fallait jouer avec ce système (3-5-2) pour contourner cette équipe qui a défendu très bas. Malgré le match difficile, on retiendra la victoire pour mieux préparer les échéances du mois de septembre’’, a reconnu Aliou Cissé en conférence de presse.
Super favoris de la poule L de ces éliminatoires, les champions d’Afrique devront trouver une solution face à cette stratégie qui sera, certainement, l’arme de leurs adversaires tout au long de cette phase.
