Le président de la République, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, arrivé en fin d’après-midi à Mbour (ouest), ville endeuillée par le chavirement d’une pirogue ayant fait plusieurs dizaines de morts et de nombreux disparus, assure que l’État va mener une ‘’traque sans répit’’ contre les convoyeurs de migrants du Sénégal vers l’Europe.
À son arrivée dans la principale ville de la Petite-Côte, le chef de l’État s’est aussitôt rendu à Tama Lodge, la plage où sont déposés les corps sans vie des victimes du naufrage.
‘’C’est avec une immense tristesse que je suis ici aujourd’hui’’, a-t-il déclaré en s’adressant à la presse.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye a présenté ses condoléances à ‘’la nation entière’’.
En parlant des réseaux qui organisent clandestinement les voyages de migrants vers l’Europe, le chef de l’État assure que ‘’la traque sans répit va se poursuivre et s’intensifier, dès maintenant’’.
‘’Le gouvernement continuera de traquer ces vendeurs d’illusions’’, a-t-il soutenu.
Une pirogue transportant des migrants a chaviré dimanche soir au large de Mbour, environ deux heures après son départ de cette ville.
Une trentaine de corps ont été repêchés depuis le début des recherches menées par la Marine nationale, avec le soutien d’un avion de patrouille maritime espagnol.
Trois passages ont survécu au naufrage.
