Le Sénégal demeure le principal client du Mali, selon le site Sikafinance. Les importations du Mali en provenance de Dakar se sont élevées à 296,91 milliards de francs CFA au cours du premier semestre 2022. Soit une hausse de 26,91% par rapport à la même période l’année précédente.
Bamako se classe devant la Suisse (205,3 milliards francs CFA), l’Inde (248,46 milliards de francs CFA) et la Chine (100 milliards de francs CFA).
Suite à la levée le 3 juillet 2022 des sanctions économiques et financières qui avaient été imposées au Mali, les acteurs de la communauté portuaire du Sénégal, en partenariat avec les acteurs du secteur au Mali, ont organisé un forum pour réfléchir à la mise en place d’une Stratégie nationale portuaire d’ici 2035. Entre temps, le port autonome de Dakar avait renoncé à l’ensemble des frais portuaires liés à la période de l’embargo.
Des actions visant notamment à renforcer les liens avec Bamako, qui envisage une diversification de ses partenariats, Dakar représentant environ 70% du trafic en direction du Mali. En 2020, Bamako avait représenté 21% des exportations du Sénégal et le port de Dakar vit à 50% des importations du Mali, selon les spécialistes.
