Google a levé une limite gênante concernant son widget Contacts pour Android. Cette mise à jour va rendre l’accès aux contacts favoris bien plus pratique pour les utilisateurs.
Les widgets sont devenus un élément indispensable pour personnaliser et faciliter l’utilisation des smartphones. Ils permettent d’accéder rapidement à des informations ou des fonctions, sans avoir à ouvrir un programme. L’un de ceux-ci, introduit par Google dans son application Contacts, permettait aux utilisateurs d’afficher leurs contacts favoris directement sur l’écran d’accueil.
Cependant, une limite frustrante empêchait d’en afficher plus de sept.
Google a annoncé une mise à jour de son widget Contacts pour résoudre ce problème. D’après une analyse technique du code de la dernière version de l’application, il sera bientôt possible d’ajouter bien plus de favoris au widget sur l’écran d’accueil. Cela signifie que les utilisateurs ne seront plus restreints et pourront personnaliser ce dernier comme ils le souhaitent, en y ajoutant un nombre beaucoup plus élevé.

En plus de supprimer la limite, Google ajoute une fonctionnalité attendue depuis longtemps : l’affichage des noms des contacts. Actuellement, le widget se contente de montrer les avatars des favoris. Cela peut parfois rendre leur identification difficile, surtout lorsque plusieurs personnes partagent des photos de profil similaires ou sans visuel. Avec cette mise à jour, cette information apparaîtra à côté des photos.
Lors de tests effectués par un de nos confrères sur la version 4.40.48.672619802 de l’application Google Contacts, il a été possible d’ajouter jusqu’à 16 contacts au widget, mais le nombre exact semble potentiellement illimité grâce à un menu déroulant. Ce dernier permet de faire défiler la liste directement sur l’écran d’accueil, et offre ainsi un accès rapide à un plus grand nombre de favoris.
En outre, les utilisateurs pourront redimensionner le widget pour qu’il occupe une plus grande partie de l’écran.
Cela permet d’afficher encore plus de contacts visibles sans avoir à faire défiler. Cette mise à jour, bien qu’attendue, apporte des améliorations en termes de praticité et d’ergonomie pour les utilisateurs d’Android.
