La maladie dont souffrent les hôpitaux sénégalais et qui avait récemment été évoquée par le chef de l’Etat Macky Sall, semble s’aggraver jour après jour. C’est l’amer constat fait, dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi.
Une fièvre suivie de maux de tête me pousse à sortir nuitamment pour me rendre dans une pharmacie, parmi celles qui sont de garde bien sûr, pour demander conseil. Il fallait au préalable se renseigner sur les officines de garde. Des informations disponibles à l’entrée de toutes les pharmacies du pays. Question basique réglée depuis belle lurette par l’Ordre des pharmaciens du Sénégal et qui veille à son application scrupuleuse.
Arrivé devant la première pharmacie de garde, je suis bien accueilli par le pharmacien en personne. Après quelques échanges faits de questions-réponses, il me prodigue les conseils s’agissant des médicaments à prendre. Avant que nous bouclions notre discussion, un homme, visiblement pressé, fait irruption dans la pharmacie et lance : «avez-vous un perfuseur ?». Le pharmacien répond sur un ton calme : «Oui», avant de saisir l’ordonnance brandie par le client.
«Il n’y a pas de perfuseur à l’hôpital régional ? », demande le pharmacien. «C’est souvent le cas ? Et il n’y a pas que les perfuseurs qui manquent dans cet hôpital», réplique le client. «C’est de la négligence», lance un autre client qui a suivi cet échange. A juste raison. Car au vu du prix du perfuseur, vendu à 300 FCFA (moins de 50 centimes d’euros), il y a de quoi se demander comment un produit aussi bon marché, et combien indispensable dans une structure sanitaire, peut manquer dans un hôpital de région. De la trempe de l’hôpital Amadou Sakhir Ndiéguene de Thiès.
De toute évidence, dans une telle situation, les cas urgents ne pourront pas être traités en… urgence. En tout cas, pour ce client, son malade devra attendre, comme tant d’autres d’ailleurs, qu’il aille trouver la pharmacie de garde, fasse la queue (souvent le cas), achète le produit, le ramène à l’hôpital, avant de pouvoir bénéficier de soins appropriés. Une nouvelle vision de l’urgence. Version sénégalaise. Cette séquence se passe au moment où la santé au Sénégal attire toutes les attentions.
En effet, depuis l’affaire Astou Sokhna, cette sénégalaise morte en couche dans la région de Louga, suivie des onze bébés morts calcinés dans le centre hospitalier Mame Abdoul Aziz Sy Dabakh de Tivaouane, les radars sont tournés vers les services sanitaires du pays de la Téranga où plus rien ne va. Des mouvements d’humeurs du personnel de santé sont fréquents, après les sanctions administratives et pénales qui ont suivi. L’affaire Dioura Diallo de Kédougou s’y est greffée.
Et voilà que l’hôpital manque de perfuseur. C’est à croire que c’est l’agonie dans les structures sanitaires sénégalaises où visiblement, ce n’est plus la course contre la montre pour stopper cette cascade de décès injustifiés. Avec l’installation de la nouvelle législature, l’on espère que la nouvelle Assemblée nationale prendra mieux en compte les aspirations du peuple à une santé de meilleure qualité au Sénégal.
