Le club mythique de Ouakam fait son retour en Ligue 1 après un séjour en division inférieure où il a longtemps flirté avec la montée. Emmenée par l’expérimenté Moustapha Seck, l’US Ouakam arrive avec de grandes ambitions.
« Nous sommes l’Union Sportive de Ouakam, nous avons une histoire et nous comptons marquer notre retour ». Cette phrase lâchée par Ndiaga Ndiaye, le vice-président du club étale clairement les ambitions de l’Uso qui compte bien écrire les meilleurs pages de son histoire dans l’élite sénégalaise.
Toutefois, une telle évolution n’aurait pas pu être prévue il y a quelques années. En effet, en 2017, l’USO a été tenue responsable des incendies survenus lors de la finale Coupe de la Ligue du 15 juillet qui a occasionné 8 morts et s’est vu interdire de participer à des compétitions de football de niveau national pendant sept ans, assortie d’une rétrogradation en division inférieure par la fédération sénégalaise de football.
Avant que le TAS ne lève les sanctions pesant sur les Rouge et Blanc. « Le club ne pouvait être tenu pour seule responsable ». USO, de retour dans le Championnat du Sénégal huit journées plus tard, n’a pas su capitaliser sur ses chances et a terminé 13ème au classement final, ce qui lui a valu finalement sa relégation en 2018.
Au bord du gouffre, le club champion du Sénégal en 2011, décide de monter au créneau. Plusieurs efforts ont été déployés pour qu’Uso atteigne l’élite sénégalaise. « Pendant cinq ans, nous avons toujours eu la meilleure équipe en seconde partie de saison. Il s’est avéré que nous avons eu de petits problèmes au début qui nous ont empêchés de confirmer notre montée à chaque fois », estime Ndiaga Ndiaye.
Alors qu’il était écrit que c’est avec comme entraîneur Moustapha Seck, que le club va réussir enfin sa montée. Recruté à l’aube de la saison 2022-2023, en provenance de l’AS Saloum de Kaolack, le nommé spécialiste des montées, réussit son pari. L’US Ouakam retrouve la Ligue 1 cinq ans après, au grand bonheur des supporters mais également aux dirigeants.
« Nous avons été en Ligue 2 pendant cinq ans et heureusement nous sommes revenus à un moment où tout était en train de changer. Depuis la relégation, nous avons pris le temps de reconstruire l’effectif et disposons aujourd’hui une organisation qui est interchangeable. Ici, tout le monde sait quoi faire. Le président n’a même pas besoin de leur apprendre leur métier. Nous sommes bien coordonnés et bien organisés« .
« On ne se cache pas, on est là pour gagner un championnat«
La règle est généralement connue, une préparation estivale réussie est essentielle pour une bonne saison. Ce qui conditionne d’ailleurs la survie des promus. Une loi bien prise au sérieux, Ngiaga Ndiaye rassure.
« Je pense que nous avons fait une bonne pré-saison, ce qui est très important. On touche du bois mais, mais le coach est à sa disposition, l’ensemble de son effectif. Ce qui n’est pas évident surtout après plusieurs efforts physiques. Je suis reconnaissant qu’il y ait aucun blessé jusqu’à présent ».
Après une bonne préparation, le moment est venu de définir les objectifs de l’Union Sportive de Ouakam pour cette saison qui a débuté le week-end passé. Et malgré une défaite d’entrée face à l’AS Pikine (1-0), la formation Rouge et blanc cherchera à succéder à Génération Foot qui a brandi le trophée du championnat sénégalais de Ligue 1 lors de la défunte saison. Le vice-président du club se veut clair.
« On ne se cache pas, on est là pour gagner un championnat », prévient-il.
Il ajoute : »On a une bonne organisation, une bonne équipe, on a toute une ville devant nous et tous les voyants sont au vert. Maintenant, cela doit être prouvé sur le terrain. Est-ce présomptueux de parler de titre pour une équipe promue ? Je ne pense pas, c’est plutôt d’avoir une ambition.
Parce que la prétention c’est lorsqu’on ambitionne des choses qui ne sont pas à la hauteur de nos moyens. Mais être ambitieux, c’est que nous ayons les moyens d’atteindre nos objectifs. Je pense que nos ambitions sont à la hauteur de nos moyens. Notre ambition et en adéquation avec notre force, on a une ferveur populaire, un excellent entraîneur et nous nous y préparons depuis cinq ans.
Il y a trois issues au football : gagner, perdre et faire match nul, et nous sommes ici pour gagner. Nous sommes vraiment ambitieux et nous ne le cachons pas. Il s’agit d’un objectif déclaré. Nous avons une histoire et sommes plus qu’une simple équipe. En tout cas, nous ferons ce que nous pouvons. Nous laissons le reste entre les mains de Dieu ».
« Un budget à la hausse, les moyens de nos ambitions »
Pour surfer dans cette dynamique de « vouloir tout gagner », le club prévoit d’augmenter son budget pour cette année. « Le budget moyen du club se situe entre 130 et 150 millions, ce qui est légèrement à la hausse », clame Ndiaye.
« Parce que nous revenons en Ligue 1 et nous ne sommes pas venus uniquement pour être un fulgurant. Nous avons une histoire, un vécu, nous sommes l’union sportive de Ouakam. Nous comptons sur le football local et surtout africain pour marquer notre retour. Les gens doivent savoir que nous sommes de retour.
Ouakam est de retour avec un nouveau visage, une grande ambition, une grande préparation, un public correct qui nous suit partout, des dirigeants ambitieux et de joueurs talentueux. Nous avons tout ce qu’il faut, donc nous voulons tout gagner », ajoute-t-il.
Un pas vers la formation
Mais l’ambition ne se suffit pas, il faudra travailler et ça, ils l’ont bien compris. « Nous avons le projet « VIRAGE 2025 », on est donc en avance de 2ans car nous sommes en 2023. Un projet qui porte sur nos (V) valeurs, « Ngor Yarr Jom », ce qui très important pour des footballeurs.
Des (I) infrastructures, parce qu’il nous faut des infrastructures. Nous construisons actuellement notre siège social, notre terrain et tout ce qui va avec. La (R) réforme des textes car nous devons les revoir parce qu’on est un village et on s’est professionnalisé donc nous devons revoir nos textes. (A) acteur, il nous faut aussi des acteurs performants, c’est pourquoi nous les mettons dans les meilleures conditions possibles.
Nous n’avons jamais eu de problème de salaire. À cela ajoute les formations et les éducations. Nous avons Uso Kids, nous recrutons depuis deux ans des jeunes âgés de 5 à 16 ans, les entraînons pendant deux à trois mois et leur apprenons le football. Il est important que chaque petite catégorie ait une identité« . Les autres formations sont averties, l’Us Ouakam, vainqueur de la Coupe du Sénégal à trois reprises (1964, 1969 et 2006), sera une équipe à suivre.
