Au nom du président de la République du Sénégal, Macky Sall, qui assure la présidence de l’Union Africaine, le ministre de la Santé et de l’Action sociale, Dr Marie Khemess Ngom Ndiaye a présidé ce mardi la réunion du Comité Consultatif d’experts de l’observatoire du Sida en Afrique, Aids Watch Africa (AWA) 2022. Elle a demandé notamment à mettre fin aux inégalités pour y atteindre les objectifs.
L’objectif principal de l’événement AWA 2022 est de faire le point sur les progrès réalisés dans la mise en œuvre des programmes de lutte contre le VIH, la tuberculose, le paludisme et les autres maladies infectieuses (OID) et le financement de la santé en Afrique.
La rencontre a été aussi l’occasion pour le ministre de réaffirmer l’engagement commun des pays de faire l’état des lieux et d’échanger sur les évolutions nécessaires en vue de combler les gaps et de maintenir le cap de l’élimination mondiale de ces maladies d’ici 2030, dans un contexte particulier marqué par la pandémie de Covid-19.
Dans son discours, Dr Marie Khemess Ngom Ndiaye n’a pas manqué de relever qu’afin de mettre fin au sida, à la tuberculose, au paludisme et aux hépatites, il nous faudra aussi « mettre fin aux inégalités, centrer nos efforts sur les personnes et en finir avec les injustices sociales qui sont la source des nouvelles infections surtout chez les jeunes, les femmes et les populations les plus vulnérables ».
La priorité pour Mme le ministre doit être de « renforcer la résilience et la pérennité des systèmes nationaux de santé, notamment en levant les obstacles aux services de soins et de prévention, mais aussi en mettant fin à la stigmatisation, à la discrimination et à la marginalisation ».
En outre, dira-t-elle « nous devons trouver des ressources supplémentaires et allouer les budgets nécessaires à travers des stratégies innovantes de financement domestique pour que nos pays réalisent les investissements souhaités. »
Les conclusions de la rencontre sont attendues demain mercredi et pourraient constituer, d’après elle, un instrument de plaidoyer lors de la prochaine Assemblée générale des chefs d’Etat de l’Union Africaine, dans le but de « renforcer considérablement le financement de la santé dans nos pays ».
