Beaucoup de cas de noyades conduisant à de lourdes pertes en vies humaines sont constatés chaque année à la plage de Guédiawaye. C’est pour cette raison que la ville de Guédiawaye en collaboration avec l’observatoire de suivi des indicateurs de développement économique en Afrique et IBP, a initié un atelier sur la problématique des noyades dans ladite ville. Ce, pour contribuer à la lutte contre les noyades par la pédagogie des principes du volontariat et de l’engagement citoyen.
L’atelier a été axé principalement sur le partage de la problématique avec les acteurs communautaires susceptibles d’intervenir dans la prise en charge de la question(Elus locaux, ASC, Scouts, Croix-Rouge, sapeurs-pompiers, Maitres-nageurs police, et service national de l’hygiène). « Nous avons convié l’ensemble des acteurs pour qu’on puisse ensemble nous pencher sur cette problématique. Les sapeurs-pompiers vont faire la présentation nous donner les chiffres et ensemble nous allons proposer des solutions et élaborer un plan d’action pour que cette année Guédiawaye puisse dire au revoir au cas de noyade », a dit Mme Nongo, Aminata Ndiaye, directrice de l’éducation, des affaires sociales et sanitaires de la ville de Guédiawaye.
Elle ajoute: « Nous allons prendre toutes les mesures idoines afin que les enfants ne puissent pas accéder directement à l’intérieur de la plage ».
Lui emboitant le pas, Cheikh Oumar Sy, directeur exécutif de l’observatoire de suivi des indicateurs du développement économique en Afrique a déclaré: “On sait que la plage de Malibu enregistre d’énormes pertes en vies humaines c’est pourquoi nous avons invité aujourd’hui les autorités pour les sensibiliser sur ces cas là et essayer de voir comment trouver des solutions”
Selon lui, ces 5 dernières années, “nous avons enregistré en moyenne 95 décès au niveau national et la plupart de ces décès là sont comptés sur la plage de Guédiawaye, donc en partenariat avec la mairie de Guédiawaye c’est pour trouver les moyens de sensibiliser les jeunes et les parents”.
Pour Khalifa Ababacar Gueye, président du conseil départemental de la jeunesse de Guédiawaye, cet atelier va leur permettre de créer un cadre de synergie d’action qui va fédérer tous les acteurs qui interviennent dans la prévention des noyades à Guédiawaye.
