Le président de la République a appelé, jeudi, à Dakar, à un entretien permanent de la corniche ouest de Dakar, afin que les populations puissent tirer profit de son aménagement.
‘’Ce projet d’envergure vise à doter Dakar d’une corniche attractive et de lui permettre d’acquérir une nouvelle identité et (…) une nouvelle image’’, a dit Macky Sall lors d’une visite du chantier.
La mairie concernée, le ministère de l’Urbanisme et celui de l’Environnement doivent veiller à ‘’un entretien perpétuel’’ de cet espace en vue de la longévité des édifices publics qui y sont construits, selon le chef de l’Etat, dont les propos sont rapportés par l’Agence de presse Senegalaise.
Les travaux d’aménagement de la corniche ouest de Dakar, entamés depuis plusieurs semaines, s’étendent sur une dizaine de kilomètres, entre la porte du Millénaire et la mosquée de la Divinité.
Ils vont ‘’rendre la corniche accessible à pied ou à vélo, mais aussi protéger les falaises et la côte de l’érosion’’, affirme un document du ministère de l’Urbanisme.
‘’Cette volonté d’embellir et de reverdir la corniche entre dans le cadre du Programme Sénégal propre’’, qui encourage ‘’la création d’espaces d’épanouissement, de promenade, de loisir et de sport en donnant un autre visage à Dakar’’, a dit Macky Sall.
Le président de la République a invité les chefs de quartier et les associations sportives et culturelles à soutenir cette initiative en menant des activités de reboisement, par exemple.
Par ailleurs, Macky Sall a annoncé le démarrage imminent de la construction du Mémorial de Gorée. Celui-ci sera un lieu d’hommage, de méditation, de réflexion. Le Mémorial de Gorée sera un lieu unique au monde qui abrite le Centre International des mémoires, tourné résolument vers l’avenir, consacré aux droits de l’Homme et dédié au « dialogue entre les peuples ».
