Près de 3 000 tonnes de déchets sont, en moyenne déposées à la décharge de Meubeuss, un site situé dans le département de Keur Massar dans la banlieue de Dakar, a révélé samedi à Saly (Mbour), l’expert en Génie civile, Ousmane Koné.

« En moyenne, la décharge de Meubeuss reçoit entre 2 500 et 3000 tonnes de déchets par jour« , a-t-il indiqué lors d’un atelier de renforcement de capacités organisé à l’intention de plusieurs journalistes membres d’associations de presse intervenant dans les départements de Pikine, Guédiawaye, Keur Massar et Rufisque (banlieue de Dakar).

La rencontre de deux jours, est organisée, par le Projet de la gestion intégrée et de l’économie des déchets solides au Sénégal (Promoged).

L’objectif est de partager avec les membres du cercle des associations de journalistes et communicants en banlieue, « des concepts clés de terminologie de la gestion des déchets solides« .

L’expert en Génie civile du PROMOGED a assuré que sa structure est en « bonne voie » en termes de réalisation d’infrastructures de gestion des déchets.

« On produit des déchets. On vit avec les déchets. Il est important que tous s’engagent dans ce grand chantier de la gestion des déchets. Et la communication nous permettra d’atteindre cet objectif« , avait déclaré le directeur du PROMOGED, Ibrahima Diagne à l’ouverture de la session.

Il a réitéré son engagement à travailler avec les journalistes, communicants et les autres acteurs dans sa mission de promotion de la gestion intégrée et de l’économie des déchets solides au Sénégal.

Le Sénégal avec le soutien de la banque mondiale, de l’agence française de développement, de l’agence espagnole pour la coopération internationale et de la Banque européenne d’investissement, a initié la deuxième phase du Programme national de gestion des déchets (PNGD), à travers le PROMOGED.

Ce projet vient compléter les acquis du Projet de gestion des déchets solides urbains, selon ses responsables.

Cette deuxième phase cible spécifiquement le pôle de Dakar avec un vaste programme de mise en place d’infrastructures dans les pôles de gestion des déchets dans les autres pôles que sont Thiès, Saint-Louis (Matam) et Casamance (Sédhiou, Kolda et Ziguinchor).
