Les enquêteurs ont d’abord souligné que vu sa petite taille, la victime ne pouvait pas s’attacher seule au plafond de sa chambre. Ensuite, les vêtements qu’elle portait le jour supposé de son décès sont introuvables. En plus, l’autopsie a conclu à une mort par asphyxie mécanique consécutive à une strangulation.
Ces éléments ont conforté les policiers ainsi que le parquet que l’auteur du crime n’est autre que le mari de la victime.
