Le Conseil départemental de Rufisque a tenu hier, jeudi 18 août un forum multi-acteurs autour de la question du développement économique de la collectivité territoriale. A cette occasion, un plaidoyer fort a été développé pour la zone de production des Niayes soit protégée, à travers son érection en zone spéciale.
La rencontre a été une occasion pour l’équipe d’experts de présenter un diagnostic de la situation économique du département, mise en relation avec les possibilités de développement que présente la zone. L’accent a été mis particulièrement sur les opportunités économiques avec la zone des Niayes. Une zone de production menacée par des problèmes multiples et au premier chef la réduction des terres au profit de la poussée urbaine.
«Nous avons fait un diagnostic multi acteurs qui nous a permis d’élaborer une feuille de route dont la finalité est de permettre à l’économie locale d’être impulsée aussi bien dans le domaine de la production que dans la transformation des produits de l’agriculture, de manière à développer l’emploi local et les infrastructures», a souligné Issa Diop Ndoye expert de la diaspora qui a participé à la restitution du diagnostic et de présenter les conclusions et les recommandations de cette étude.
Ce forum vient appuyer les programmes de politiques alimentaires mises en place par le conseil, à travers le Système Alimentaire Durable de Lutte contre la Malnutrition à Dakar (SADMAD) et le programme d’Appui pour la mise en œuvre du plan alimentaire territorial (AMOPAR). Des programmes se déroulent en partenariat avec le GRDR et CICODEV.
À terme, l’objectif visé par le forum est de favoriser l’essor d’une économie locale centrée sur les activités de production et de transformations liées à la zone des Niayes. Afin de préserver la capacité de production de la zone des Niayes les acteurs ont plaidé pour son érection en zone économique spécifique. «Nous voudrions demander un statut spécial pour la zone des Niayes. L’importance de sa production horticole le mérite, l’importance aussi des populations agricoles, horticoles, jeunes et femmes qui travaillent, le méritent. La spécificité de cette zone en tant qu’écosystème dans la région de Dakar, le mérite également.
C’est pourquoi, je lance un appel aux autorités afin que la zone des Niayes ait un statut spécial afin que les problématiques soient mieux revisitées.
