Les policiers de la Sûreté urbaine ont mis fin à un important réseau de fabrication de faux documents administratifs, dirigé par le cerveau E.M. Wellé et ses complices. Cette organisation clandestine attirait de nombreux clients cherchant à obtenir de faux passeports ou pièces d’identité.
Selon L’Observateur, c’est l’arrestation d’El. Diallo, M. L. Keïta et Al. Sidibé qui a permis aux autorités de neutraliser le cerveau du groupe et ses acolytes. Grâce aux informations fournies par ce trio, la police a réussi à localiser les faussaires et leur matériel.
Les perquisitions effectuées à Yeumbeul, Keur Massar et Grand-Yoff Cité Millionnaire ont été fructueuses.
Ainsi, 96 fausses copies littérales, 23 extraits de casier judiciaire, 64 certificats de mariage, 394 certificats de naissance, 4 certificats de scolarité, 5 faux diplômes du Baccalauréat, 3 Bfem, 21 certificats de nationalité sénégalaise, de faux certificats de résidence, de livrets de famille, de certificats de décès…, les cachets de 58 officiers d’Etat civil de 58 centres d’État civil ont été imités par les faussaires ainsi que les cachets nominatifs desdits officiers d’État civil, le cachet du Ministère des affaires étrangères et des Sénégalais de l’Extérieur, du Consulat général du Sénégal à Milan (Italie), du chef du Poste de Police de Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao et d’autres commissariats ont été saisis.
L’enquête a révélé que le sieur Wellé avait réussi à falsifier les cachets de plusieurs officiers d’État civil et d’autres autorités, lui permettant d’inscrire frauduleusement des étrangers dans les fichiers nominatifs du Sénégal. Ce réseau aurait même affecté les enregistrements civils de certains citoyens.
Les accusations portées contre eux incluent « association de malfaiteurs, faux et usage de faux, fraude documentaire et contrefaçon des sceaux de l’État », entraînant leur placement sous mandat de dépôt et l’ouverture d’une information judiciaire. Cependant, A. Diallo a été relaxé par manque de preuves suffisantes selon la police.
