Le Secrétaire général de l’Agence sénégalaise d’études spatiales (Ases) note avec regret un désintérêt pour les matières scientifiques au Sénégal. «Il y a une désaffection croissante et inquiétante des filières scientifiques par les élèves. Au Bac général de 2024, sur 156 mille 77 candidats inscrits, il y a un peu plus de 25 mille candidats qui sont inscrits dans les filières scientifiques.

Donc, c’est moins de 17%, pour plus de 83% de candidats inscrits dans les filières littéraires. C’est extrêmement faible», a regretté Malick Sow. Le Secrétaire général de l’Ases s’exprimait samedi, en marge de la caravane «Space Bus» qui a séjourné le week-end à Ziguinchor.

La région est à 9, 08% de candidats inscrits dans les filières scientifiques. «Tout le reste, c’est-à-dire plus de 90%, est dans les filières littéraires.

C’est vraiment inquiétant. Il faut que les actions qui sont en train d’être faites par le ministère de l’Education nationale soient renforcées», a plaidé Malick Sow. C’est dans cette dynamique que s’inscrit cette caravane «Space Bus» qui sillonne le pays pour intéresser massivement les élèves aux filières scientifiques. «La littérature, c’est bien, mais pour transformer systématiquement ce pays, il nous faut former davantage dans les sciences.

Pour développer le pays, il nous faut disposer d’une masse critique de scientifiques.

Pour être souverain sur les plans économique, social et culturel, il nous faut dominer les sciences», a fait savoir le Secrétaire général de l’Ases.

Gestion de la biodiversité
Un Comité régional de développement a été également organisé dans le cadre de la caravane «Space Bus». La gestion de la biodiversité a été débattue au cours de cette rencontre où les experts ont suggéré le recours aux nouvelles technologies pour sauver la biodiversité.

Pour l’adjoint au Gouverneur de Ziguinchor, «le recours aux technologies modernes de la géomatique pourrait devenir un puissant levier pour mieux formuler les objectifs de la gestion de la biodiversité et mieux coordonner nos interventions afin de renforcer nos capacités de gestion des écosystèmes très fragiles».

Alsény Bangoura pense aussi que la production de données pour agir doit être proportionnelle à la forte augmentation des besoins des populations dans un contexte de changement climatique marqué par des événements extrêmes, notamment les feux de brousse, les inondations, la salinisation des terres, l’érosion côtière. «L’accélération de la dégradation forestière ralentit la croissance.

Plus aucun autre capital humain, économique et social ne peut se fortifier sans le capital naturel.

Il nous faut donc agir maintenant et rester solidaires pour la sauvegarde de nos ressources naturelles qui doivent être le fondement de toutes les stratégies de développement», a plaidé M. Bangoura.
