Au bout des 4 premières rondes de l’épreuve classique disputées le week-end, les deux scrabbleurs sénégalais ont enregistré chacun une victoire et 3 dé faites. Amar Diokh et Samba Laobé Dieng, qui étaient en lice lors de la première journée, auront la lourde tâche de renverser cette tendance pour s’offrir une médaille.
Á noter que la délégation sénégalaise s’est déplacée en Belgique avec un nombre réduit de joueurs. Plusieurs joueurs, qui étaient sur la liste de la Fédération sénégalaise de Scrabble, n’ont pu effectuer le voyage. Parmi eux, le double champion du Sénégal, Mouhamed Niang. Le président de la fédération, El Hadji Malick Ndiaye évoque un retard lié à l’obtention de visa. Ce qui a bloqué une partie de la délégation à Dakar.
