Des scènes de violence ont de nouveau éclaté au marché Sandaga, au centre-ville de Dakar. Les marchands ambulants et tabliers se sont opposés aux opérations de déguerpissement menées par la commune de Dakar-Plateau. Malgré cette résistance, le maire Alioune Ndoye reste déterminé à poursuivre les actions d’assainissement du marché.
En discussion avec le sous-préfet Djiby Diallo, les marchands frustrés réclament l’accompagnement de l’État du Sénégal. « Nous ne quitterons pas le centre-ville de Dakar sans soutien », clament-ils. Le maire Alioune Ndoye a réitéré sa fermeté à les faire déguerpir. Face à la presse, il a déploré les attaques contre ses agents.
« Ce qui s’est passé au marché Sandaga (mercredi) est totalement inacceptable. Mais nous allons assumer. Nous continuerons ces opérations jusqu’à ce que l’État nous ordonne officiellement d’arrêter », a-t-il déclaré.
Après son point de presse, les agents municipaux se sont rendus au rond-point Sandaga pour continuer les déguerpissements, mais ont été accueillis par des marchands refusant de quitter les lieux.
Des échanges de projectiles ont suivi, obligeant les forces de l’ordre à utiliser des grenades lacrymogènes pour disperser la foule. Le calme a finalement été rétabli et la circulation normalisée, sans qu’aucun blessé ne soit signalé.
Le sous-préfet Djiby Diallo a ensuite rencontré les représentants des marchands ambulants, Pathé Sall et Mory Ngom, dans son bureau.
Les responsables de la commune de Dakar-Plateau n’ont pas pris part à cette réunion. Les marchands ont salué l’initiative de dialogue de l’administration et regretté les violences des jours précédents, présentant leurs excuses.
Ils ont demandé à l’État de les accompagner et proposé des sites de recasement.
Le sous-préfet, Djiby Diallo, leur a assuré que l’État du Sénégal les soutiendra. À l’issue de la rencontre, les marchands ambulants se sont engagés à ne plus occuper la voie publique, informe L’Observateur.
