L’Association sportive des sourds du Sénégal a annoncé sur sa page sa participation aux Jeux olympiques des Sourds Tokyo 2025 avec plusieurs disciplines dont le football et le basket.
«Nous sommes en pleine préparation avec nos athlètes qui s’apprêtent à représenter le Sénégal dans des disciplines telles que le basketball, le football, le karaté, le taekwondo, l’athlétisme et bien d’autres», lit-on sur la plage de l’Association sportive des sourds malentendants du Sénégal.
L’Association sportive des sourds, qui a récemment de- mandé au président de la République de leur permettre de s’ériger en CNP pour ne plus dépendre du handisport s’ouvre donc à d’autres disciplines après la réte nuitussi dans le football.
«Nous voulons donner de la chance à d’autres «athlètes» (sportifs dans le jargon handisport). Il y a des centaines de sourds qui veulent s’activer dans des disciplines autre que le football et le basket», nous souffle t-on dans l’association.
Déjà le football a fini par montrer ses preuves avec un titre de champion d’Afrique 2021 et une participation honorable au dernier Mondial malaisien entre fin septembre et début octobre. De bonnes performances en terre malaisienne avec une 3e place qui leur donnent droit à une qualification d’office aux JO Olympiques Tokyo 2025.
Le basket aussi est déjà présent avec le comité national de Basket des sourds. Mais les basketteurs n’ont jamais pris part à une compétition internationale.
Ils seront tout de même présents au Japon comme invité avec le Maroc et le Kenya. L’athlétisme par contre n’est pas sûr de faire partie du voyage car le délai est très court et d’ici là «c’est pas sûr que les athlètes qui sont envoyés au stade Iba Mar Diop ne soient pas prêts», nous souffle un dirigeant de l’équipe tout comme les autres disciplines individuelles qu’ils veulent intégrer.
Les sourds et malentendants sont donc déterminés pour une bonne représentativité dans le sport avec cette affirmative lue sur leur page: «le travail acharné se poursuit avec détermination», affirme-t-il.
