Un tribunal de Dakar examinera le 12 décembre la réintégration ou non de l’opposant sénégalais Ousmane Sonko sur les listes électorales, dont dépend sa candidature à la présidentielle de 2024.
La Cour suprême au Sénégal a cassé le 17 novembre un jugement rendu en octobre, qui avait remis Sonko dans la course à la présidentielle en annulant sa radiation des listes électorales prononcée à la suite d’une condamnation dans une affaire de mœurs. La Cour a décidé que l’affaire devait être rejugée en première instance par le tribunal de Dakar.
Machinations
Ousmane Sonko a été radié des listes électorales à la suite de sa condamnation en juin à deux ans de prison ferme pour « corruption de la jeunesse ». Il dénonce cette affaire et d’autres dont il fait l’objet comme des machinations visant à l’écarter de la présidentielle. Le pouvoir se défend de toute instrumentalisation de la justice.
La radiation de l’opposant le rend inéligible pour la présidentielle de 2024 si elle est confirmée. Elle donne lieu à une bagarre judiciaire menée par ses avocats contre l’État, engagé depuis plus de deux ans dans un bras de fer avec l’opposant.
Écroué fin juillet sous d’autres chefs d’inculpation, dont appel à l’insurrection, association de malfaiteurs en lien avec une entreprise terroriste et atteinte à la sûreté de l’État, Ousmane Sonko conteste également ces mises en cause.
