Inali : une prothèse accessible aux pays en développement
Prashant Gade, fondateur et CEO d’Inali, rappelle que, en Inde, de nombreuses personnes vivent avec un handicap physique, le coût des prothèses provenant d’Europe et des États-Unis étant si élevé (plus de 10.000 dollars), qu’il est quasiment impossible de s’en équiper. En fondant Inali, Prashant et son équipe se sont donné pour mission de développer des prothèses électroniques accessibles à tous. Dotées de six différents modèles de mouvements préprogrammés avec des options pour la précision et la force de préhension, elles fonctionnent en détectant les signaux du cerveau.
Cette innovation de rupture a été en partie rendue possible grâce à la technologie offerte par le 3DExperience lab. Visualiser en 3D le prototype en conception permet de réduire les itérations de prototypage, le temps de production et, in fine, d’économiser de l’argent. « Il y a 5 ans, nous avons vu dans Inali une industrie capable de changer le regard que l’on porte sur la santé en Inde, explique Prashant Gade. Le 3DExperience Lab a été une bénédiction pour nous, et nous a permis de concrétiser ce projet ».
BrainSight AI, un outil de deep learning pour aider à la détection précoce des troubles mentaux
BrainSightAI, fondé par Laina Emmanuel et Rimjhim Agrawal, crée des outils de diagnostic basés sur l’IA qui peuvent aider à l’investigation fonctionnelle du cerveau pour détecter des signes précoces de démence.
« Nous croyons qu’il y a une nouvelle façon d’analyser le cerveau, une façon intrinsèque, souligne Laina Emmanuel. Le problème est : comment pénétrer son architecture interne ? C’est l’outil que nous sommes en train de construire ! »
Les deux complexités majeures résident dans la construction du pipeline de données permettant de construire l’IA d’une part. Chaque cerveau compte 86 millions de neurones avec leurs connexions dans chaque direction. Imaginez devoir analyser 86 millions de voitures pour en tirer un pattern et pouvoir dire qu’il match avec XYZ. D’autre part, la visualisation 3D du cerveau est destinée aux médecins.
Le logiciel mis à disposition par le 3DExperience Lab leur a été d’une grande aide et leur a permis de se concentrer sur leur R&D. Actuellement, ils travaillent avec un hôpital pour la détection de démence et d’autres cliniques pour les tumeurs.
