Sur les raisons de ce recul, Abdoulaye Ndiaye invoque le changement climatique qui impacte négativement la production, les contraintes liées à la réglementation phytosanitaire du marché européen, entre autres. L’année dernière, le Sénégal a exporté plus de 20 mille tonnes de mangues sur le marché de l’Union européenne et un peu dans les pays de la sous-région.

Mais cette année, on risque d’être en dessous des espérances, a prédit hier Abdoulaye Ndiaye. Cette baisse des exportations de la filière mangue, explique le chef de la Division législation phytosanitaire et quarantaine des plantes à la Direction de la protection des végétaux (Dpv), découlerait du changement climatique ayant occasionné de pluie cette année, impactant «négativement» la qualité de la production, mais aussi de la réglementation phytosanitaire, «jugée très contraignante», de l’Union européenne, qui est le principal marché d’exportation de la mangue du Sénégal. Il précise qu’une idée du chiffre relatif à cette baisse de la production sera connue une fois que l’évaluation sera terminée.
Le chef de la Division législation phytosanitaire et quarantaine des plantes à la Dpv intervenait hier en marge de l’atelier sur le projet-pilote de l’utilisation d’assurances volontaires par des tiers (Aptv) au Sénégal et au Mali, portant sur la formation sur les bonnes pratiques post-récolte de la filière mangue. Cette rencontre est organisée par la Dpv, en partenariat avec Investissement pour de nouvelles opportunités d’emploi (Inoe), le Fonds d’application des normes et de développement du commerce (Stdf), l’Organisation des Nations unies pour le développement industriel (Onudi) et la coopération allemande.
Sur le sens de cet atelier, M. Ndiaye explique : «Nous voulons consolider tout ce qui est autocontrôle applicable à la filière mangue dans une démarche systémique. C’est une phase-pilote que nous essaierons de déployer à travers toute la filière mangue…»
De ce son côté, Marie Michelle Sarr, Coordonnatrice nationale du projet-pilote de l’utilisation d’assurances volontaires par des tiers (Aptv), ajoute que cet atelier participe à renforcer la capacité de ceux qui interviennent dans la filière de la mangue dont une quarantaine prend part à cette rencontre qui se poursuivra jusqu’à vendredi prochain.
