Les opérations de pompage s’intensifient sur plusieurs fronts à Fatick, pour accélérer la libération des quartiers et des artères. Le Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement, Monsieur Setigne Mbaye Thiam et le Directeur général de l’Office National de l’Assainissement, Dr. Ababacar Mbaye, ont apporté réconfort aux sinistrés. Le Ministre a annoncé que d’autres équipements seront mobilisés. L’Office national de l’Assainissement du Sénégal a déjà renforcé le système de refoulement des eaux.
Le Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement, Monsieur Serigne Mbaye, a visité, le vendredi matin, plusieurs quartiers de Fatick. La visite a commencé au bassin de Darel. Ici, la station a été débordée. Sur place, le Ministre a préconisé le relèvement des équipements électriques des stations. « Avec l’expérience, il faut prévoir le relèvement des équipements des stations pour éviter qu’ils ne soient inondés », a laissé entendre le Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement, Serigne Mbaye Thiam. Quelques heures plus tard, la station a été remise en service.
Après Darel, cap sur Peulgha. Le Ministre, Mme la Gouverneur de Fatick, Seynabou Guèye et les représentants des autorités municipales ont été au chevet des sinistrés. Le Ministre, les pieds dans l’eau a écouté les victimes.
Parmi elles, d’autres ont reconnu que cela a fait des décennies que leur ville n’avait reçu autant d’eau. « Nous sommes venus apporter réconfort et exprimé notre compassion aux populations au nom du président de la République, Son Excellence Macky Sall et au nom du Gouvernement », a témoigné le Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement.
Les autres étapes de la visite sont Ndouck, la cité Emetteur et d’autres quartiers, où on peut voir çà et là des zones inondées. Beaucoup de sites étaient déjà inhabitables parce qu’ils sont des voies naturelles d’eaux. « Mme la Gouverneur, beaucoup de ces zones sont non aedificandi. Ici, à Darel, il faut essayer de revenir sur certaines attributions même si ce sont des baux. Il faut récupérer ces espaces pour en faire des bassins », a proposé le Ministre.
Deux jours auparavant, l’Office national de l’Assainissement du Sénégal a renforcé le dispositif existant. Une pompe de 1000 m3/heure a été positionnée au bassin de Peulga, alors qu’à la Cité Emetteur, une pompe de 400 m3/heure a été déployée. Tout compte fait, la capacité de refoulement qui était de 2800 m3/heure, a été renforcée. Les opérations d’évacuation des eaux s’intensifient partout, pour libérer au plus au plus vite les artères et les maisons.
Les inondations de la ville de Fatick à cette période de l’année, sont le fait combiné des pluies exceptionnelles et de l’engorgement de la nappe qui est affleurante sur une bonne partie de cette ville. « L’hivernage n’est pas encore terminé, nous sommes à 1002 mm en 52 jours. En 1948, le cumul était de 976 mm. Au cours de ces trois derniers jours, nous avons enregistré près de 200 mm de pluies. Nous sommes partis pour battre tous les records », a pronostiqué le Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement, Serigne Mbaye. Il était accompagné de la Gouverneur, Seynabou Guèye, adjointe au maire, Aida Diouf. Depuis 2018, l’Etat a investi plus 9 milliards francs Cfa, pour renforcer le système d’assainissement.
Pour les eaux usées, le dispositif comporte 21 km, deux stations de pompage, une station de boue de vidange, une station d’épuration. Au total, 650 ménages sont raccordés à tout à l’égout. Alors que pour l’évacuation des eaux pluviales, le Ministère de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement à travers l’ONAS, a construit 14,5 km de réseau, une station de pompage et 5 bassins de rétention.
