L’Association des journalistes pour la transparence dans les ressources extractives et la préservation de l’environnement (AJTREPE) et l’Institut national du pétrole et du gaz (INPG) ont signé une convention de partenariat stratégique visant à renforcer les compétences des journalistes sur les enjeux liés aux secteurs des hydrocarbures et de l’énergie au Sénégal.
La cérémonie de signature s’est déroulée dans les locaux de l’INPG, à Dakar le 23 janvier 2025, en présence de nombreux journalistes membres de l’AJTREPE et des responsables de l’Institut.
Un partenariat crucial pour la transparence et la formation
Selon Fall Mbaye, le directeur général de l’INPG, l’objectif principal de ce partenariat est de fournir aux journalistes des outils et des connaissances approfondies sur les problématiques liées aux industries pétrolières et gazières.
« Les résultats attendus de cette collaboration incluent le renforcement des compétences des journalistes sur ces sujets, mais aussi la promotion de la transparence dans la gestion des ressources naturelles », a précisé M. Mbaye.
Il a également souligné que ce partenariat permettrait de mieux informer le grand public sur les défis économiques, sociaux et environnementaux associés à l’exploitation des ressources naturelles.
En outre, il s’agira d’assurer une diffusion d’informations fiables et vérifiées pour lutter contre la désinformation, un enjeu majeur dans un secteur en constante évolution.
Créé en 2017, l’INPG a pour mission de développer l’expertise nationale et de favoriser l’insertion professionnelle des Sénégalais dans les secteurs du pétrole et du gaz. Pour M. Mbaye, ce partenariat avec l’AJTREPE représente une étape décisive dans la formation des journalistes qui, selon lui, joueront un rôle clé pour faire face aux défis de la gestion des ressources naturelles du pays.
Un tremplin pour les journalistes spécialisés
De son côté, Youssouf Bodian, président de l’AJTREPE, a salué cette collaboration comme une avancée significative pour la profession journalistique au Sénégal. « Grâce à ce partenariat, nos membres pourront approfondir leur compréhension des enjeux liés à l’exploitation des ressources extractives et énergétiques, et ainsi mieux accompagner l’évolution de ce secteur stratégique », a-t-il déclaré.
M. Bodian, également journaliste à la Radio futurs médias (RFM), a insisté sur le rôle crucial des journalistes spécialisés dans le secteur énergétique.
« Notre mission est de donner une vision claire et critique des enjeux de ce secteur, de mettre en lumière les innovations technologiques, les bonnes pratiques en matière de durabilité, mais aussi de dévoiler les risques et défis liés à l’exploitation des ressources naturelles ».
Cette collaboration est donc perçue comme un levier essentiel pour garantir une meilleure couverture médiatique des secteurs pétrolier et gazier au Sénégal, dans un contexte où la gestion de ces ressources est un enjeu majeur pour l’avenir du pays.
